Dear Monica-

We are so happy to have your voice here on WP! You may write in either language, or switch between depending on the mood or situation. There is a translation tool available if you want to use it, but you can write in your first language, and most can access the translation on the other end when they are reading. I hope that makes sense.

I, too, am attempting to live out my passions in the midst of the necessary duties of daily life. It is important to both know your passion and then be able to act upon it. You will find many here to connect with on these issues! Since you enjoy writing, next year you may want to participate in the Voices of the Future application process. You can read the most recent writings from this year's program by doing a search for VOF 2013.

I have found the quickest way to enter into this community is to click on the "Voices Rising" link, which is under the "PulseWire" tab near the top of the screen. From there you can easily access and read journal entries, and perhaps make a comment in reply. In order to add people to your community, click on the person's name. You will be taken to their profile, and can click on the 'add to my community' link under their photo. Here is a link you may find helpful:

Hola Monica!

Dear Monica,

Ah yes! How fun to hear from somebody in Spain!--my niece is there this year (in San Sebastian) and I was an exchange student there in High School (Madrid). Where are you located? Thank you for joining World Pulse, a thriving and supportive community of grassroots women leaders and others from more than 190 countries around the world. It's great to have you here and to read your profile. I can identify with your passions, challenges, and your vision for the future. It's important to me too to make sure I make time to express my creativity--to find ways of doing that on a daily basis, if possible.

I am so humbled by the stories I read on this website--there are many journal posts that describe incredible hardship--women who have undergone enormous suffering at the hands of the patriarchal cultures they live in and/or due to poverty, lack of access to education, their disabilities, etc--but I know you will be inspired by the incredible resilience and courage women here have, and their determination to pave the way for a brighter future for girls.

To learn how to navigate the website and to network with others who share your interests and goals, please take a look at the Getting Started Guide:

Again, welcome to World Pulse! Thank you for adding your voice to the community! I hope to hear more from you in the days to come!

With gratitude,

"I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness the astonishing light of your own being."
