Mother, You are the most Amazing Woman ever!

My greatest hero with her lovely smile

After three months you were born,
Grandma passed away…
You were then raised by your aunty,
Not knowing your real family,
Didn’t even know you had another sister…
You had to quit school
In order to look after your nieces and nephews
You missed schools badly,
but there was nothing you could do
Your father who didn’t raise you,
Why did you allow him to pick a spouse for you?
Oh, patriarchy
The headman has all the power
I didn’t mean I hate my father,
But I heard you said you weren’t happy
Coz you actually loved someone else
The in-laws are not so nice to you
Even the younger do not respect you
They hate your dark skin,
Your low education
Still you treat them well
And finally won their hearts
With your kindness and generosity
Sorry dad was always sick
You had to raise us alone
It must be very hard,
but you manage to
Coz you didn’t conceive any son
People around feel pity on you
They keep asking what’s wrong
How can you answer?
Coz you didn’t receive high education
Your income is low
The neighbors look down on you
But you never let them get through
To break your spirit and soul
People told you not to send us to school
cos they think girls don't really need to
You said no
You said you won't let us have to struggle a lot like you
so here I am
in a university abroad
All credits go to you
Unlike others who tend to discourage me
You are the greatest believer
Who keeps telling me I will be extra-ordinary
so I tell you,
Yes mother, I will be!!!
Your encouragement is my best supporter
You are the best tutor ever
My greatest inspiration
is definitely you...
Whatever I am doing today
Is all for you
I am going to make you proud
As I always do
Your hopeful smile
Keeps telling me that life's going to be better
That as long as we're optimist,
There's nothing we can't do
You are the most amazing woman ever!

Oh i love your poem! <3

So beautiful, so touching, so straight from the heart! Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful poem dear. I read it twice! I love it.

Thanks for reading and for the sweetest comment. I'm glad you enjoyed reading it. It feels so nice to have heard such positive comments like yours when I actually wasn't very confident the poem would sound that good to others. It's my interest to write poetry but I often feel like it's just for me and that it's never good enough for others to read. Once again, thanks you for reading, commenting and making me feel so happy :)

Thank You

Thank you for reading and for the sweetest comment. In fact, I am not extra-ordinary yet:) I will have to work harder. I hope I'll become one for real though.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful poem. It really reminds me of how I also struggle to achieve in order to give back to my mother. I'm sure your mother is right, you will do great things. :)
