excited to have found this space

hi guys im overjoyed to join this group. im a literature teacher and so enjoy reading and analysing texts. my passion for reading has given me knowlegde about history and cultures. i hate to generalize or judge people and reading helps. a quote i once read insipires me "walk in my shoes, see what i see and then you will know why i do what i do... but until then dont judge me". its easy to judge but when you are objective you see things clearly and sometimes understand what others cant.
i cant wait to know what you are reading and sharing thoughts and ideas. whilst i have access to set books that i will be teaching my reading is mainly restricted to acaademic set books. so if the books can be downloaded i may be able to download them on the net or if you are close you can lend me copies. im also insipired to share and have students who want to be part of a book club here, looking at books that are not part of their of their syllabus.
im glad to have found you thank you for being there WP book nclub members. im excited

Welcome to the group

If you want us to share books, we need to know what country you are in? I have a 16 typed pages book list I add to every time I order a new one. My major issue I focus on is Women's Equality. My favorite book on this topic is Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn.

Books

I have African Students I am host family for while they are here at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, for Army training. I haven't had one from your country for awhile. I have two right now, one from Ghana and one from South Sudan.
Do you have reliable mail delivery service in your country? If it is not too expensive the next time I thin out my books I might send some your way?
What have you written?
Women's books you like (are they women's rights books, history, fiction, what??) You can email me at jocelym46@yahoo.com.

Do you have any women's rights organizations in your country?
Check out the website http://www.now.org where I am on the board of directors here.

How old are your students?

My daughter is an award-winning teacher of third graders (8-9 years old). A good friend of hers is an author of young adult fiction (mostly fantasy). They would probably both be happy to make recommendations. The author may be willing to share her books with you.

I have 2 books that I have written about life with my husband in a small Appalachian mountain village. Would you like me to email copies of the manuscripts to you?

There was a good book for teens, explaining in a humorous way, the body changes in puberty that my children had. I think it was called "What's Happening to Me? I can do some further research and let you know.

Blessings to you.
