Is Lebanon a democracy ?

In Current Lebanon Various Old Laws need to be changed these laws are from the period of french colonialism to Lebanon , for example : Law 534 of the Lebanese Penal Codes that says : “All sexual intercourses contradicting to nature are punished from 3 months up to 1 year, additionally to a penalty between 200 and 1,000,000 Lebanese Liras.”

Due to this unjust law LGBT community in Lebanon are facing discrimination, humiliation , sexual harassment and jail ; even so the Lebanese government is practicing 'tests of shame' (as named by local civil communities) on civilians, government hires doctors to check the genitals of civilians without their consent and decide of the virginity of these persons or of their sexual orientations even so the medical union in Lebanon did condemned these tests as various international Human Rights Organizations .

Also other Laws like law 518 and 522 in the Lebanese Penal Code which presume that if the rapist marries his victim his act of rape is not criminilized, so if the rape happens in a context of marriage it is conceived as normal and a right act of love .

Hmmmm....

Too many countries have these breaches to Human Rights. I cannot remember if Lebanon have signed the treaty, if not - it should. It will probably not change things much at once, but at least it gives Right's groups an argument. And access to the International Criminal Court.

I think Lebanon was one of the member states behind the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was adopted by the U.N. General Assembly on Dec. 10, 1948 ...
