laff it off - assignment weeks are over

There were a group of women at a seminar on: ''How to make your
marriage work''. The women were asked, 'How many of you love your husbands? All the women
raised their hands.

Then they were asked, 'When was the last time you told your husband you loved
him?' Some women answered today, some yesterday, some didn't remember. The women
were then told to take their phones and send the following text: 'I love you, sweetheart'!

Then the women were told to exchange phones and read the responding text messages from their husbands.
Here are some of the replies:
1. Who is this?
2. Ehen, what again, is your mother sick or what???
3. I love you too, pls 'm busy now!!!
4. What now? Did you crash the car again?
5. Na waoh, I don't understand what you mean o!
6. What did you do now? It's only when you have
problem that 'I love u comes out if your mouth'!
7. Look, if you've done anything bad, don't use that
trick on me cos I won't take it from you this time!
8. ???
9. Don't beat about the bush, just tell me how
much you need? Money monger!!!
10. Am I dreaming???
11. This must be a mistake, If you don't tell me
who this message is actually for, someone will die
12. Are u drunk again or what?
13. I hope u have paid that money into the
account, pls no story, I told u what I want to use
that money for!
14. Are u serious, I know you're pulling my legs!!!
15. Forget that 'I love u' for now, I hope my food is
15. Whatever you want, the answer is no, u can't
fool me this time around, nonsense!!!.

can it really be true?

LOL Weird

Majority of the texts indicate that spouses use the words 'I love you' to either ask for something or to get outta trouble. This is disturbing really, I'm soon to be a new bride and I am trying to make it work, lol so I was drawn to this post.
I am interested in successful marriage techniques that work across the globe lol... hope we stumble unto that awesome love potion one day.
So far i know deep understanding, open communication, honesty, and sharing the good and the bad works for my relationship. But would love to learn more about what works and what doesn't.

Thanks for sharing my dear

human relations - complex

My dear Deqa, Human Relations is a complex one and marriage is not left out. the only is work hard on what works for you. marriage has no textbook principles. Study the person you are dealing with and find out what works for him and get a balance.

It is a personal thing, what works for you may not work for me.

Good luck and wishing you a marital bliss.

You are definitely right, every relationship is unique in some way, however, its also worth mentioning that human beings are ever evolving creatures and life is a learning process, so surely there is much to learn from successful stories of any type and marriage is included.

I just like to talk to older people and know about what works in their relationships, and of course read stories both fiction and real. Somalis have a saying ' The intelligence you don't have is in your brother's brain" well its translation but it means you can learn so much from other people and their dealings.

Thanks for the advice and the awesome wish and I pray the same for you.

you are right

You are completely right. I may follow in your footstep and see what it was like in their own time. I know the difference may not be much but some good memories keep some of them going and they do not hold on mostly to the bad memories.

Will talk to them soon and update.

cheers Deqa

Lol, few men appreciate being told they are loved over and over again. It's up to the two of you how you communicate in your marriage from the onset.

Very amusing.

great post!

Food for thought...

I guess the "i love you" exchanges of appreciation of one another is a sociocultural thing as much as a means of communicating our feelings.

The responses from the spouses are disheartening though.
Only one out of the 15 husbands were really happy and amused it seems. The rest took those words as traps.
Maybe, because of similar occurrences in the past! Maybe we women use that card only when we want something???!!!
It appears most of the women are in unhappy relationships - even if they say they love their husband.

That alone calls for a lot of discussion into the why of all of this.

In my own experience, I am in a relationship - mostly to uphold the institution of marriage.
I can't help wonder what my husband will respond with if I were to send the same message.

Marriage works only when and if both parties try to make it work. And this does not happen always, unfortunately.

You are right sister

I really wonder what type of reply most of us will get. Will it be in line with what we have in this write up or better. I really wonder and shudder.
