Dreaming the Vision

I’ve always wanted to become the one person that can inspire many other people; especially women. To do so, I have to start by building myself first. I want to develop myself to become someone who is able to help, first, my family, my community, then my country, and finally the world. This is the step that I will follow for the rest of my life. As for my personal vision, I hope to be able to provide education, mentorship, and consultation to women because after all education is one of the important things unalienable from everyone’s life, not just women. But growing up seeing women suffering due to many forms of inequality, I want to change that fact. I think that though education is important, it won’t show all of its effectiveness once mentorship is absent. That’s why I figure these two have to come together. Also, like I mentioned in every piece of my VOF assignment, women are suffering a lot. Therefore, they need consultation to help them move on in their lives. As for my community, of course, I want to see more women working in higher positions. You can see that women are great being mothers. They were born to be human being full of love and caring. Imagine if you have such human being working for a community. I believe the community will become a house full of happiness and tidiness. This is what leads me to have a vision of the world where gender doesn’t define ability of a person anymore. The world in my vision is a place where people are no longer feel discourage because of their gender so that they will feel free to express themselves.

This vision of mine drives me to want to be a Voices of World Pulse Correspondent. I have to admit that I have tried to motivate my friends from what I am doing. However, I’ve always been questioned why do I waste time? I was, most of the time, told by other girls that I will not stand a chance to be great women since I am from a poor country, a country that more than half population of the world doesn’t know it exists. I want to prove that what I was told is wrong. I can stand out and I can be great and it doesn’t matter where I am from. Becoming a Voices of World Pulse Correspondent will help me to be many steps closer to proving my stand because after all, I want to be someone that other girls in my country look at and say: “Look! She’s a woman from our country and she can do it. That means we can do it too.” Also, another reason that I want to be a Voices of World Pulse Correspondent is I want to learn more, especially from mentors. I know I can be better in term of my capability to do things, but I know that capability is still being locked somewhere inside of me, that is why I need help from mentors in VOF to unlock this ability which guiding me to achieve my vision.

Neilly,

You definitely are filled with passion it takes to take your vision further. I really enjoy what you said about a future where gender does not define ability.

You are a mentor in the making! Take one step every day toward your heart-felt desires, and you will get there.. :)

Hi Julie,

I am glad you like my post. I've had enough with gender inequality, you know? I want people to look at us, women, in term of what we can do rather than what gender we have. It's time to make this happen. Also, thank you very much for your support. I'll keep fighting for what I believe in :)

Dear Neilly,

I am excited to see your enthusiasm about your own ability to make positive changes for other women. Your desire already gives you many of the qualities of a leader, and I believe that the more clearly you speak of your vision, the more women you will be able to help. You also seem to have a deeper understanding of the way ideas about gender operate within society. That ability to see through is very special, and I hope you will continue to speak of what you see in the society and women of Cambodia. Thank you for sharing your vision with the World Pulse community, I look forward to hearing more about your specific ideas and vision!

Dear Leslie,

I wish I could tell you how I feel right now. Seeing your comment, I felt indescribable. You made me believe in myself and my vision more, and you did make me feel special. I do believe that in order to make positive changes, we first need to desire for positive changes. This is the very first step ever. Regarding my deep understanding about gender-define society, i know it clearly because I live in one. It's not difficult to see if I open my eyes and, most importantly, my mind. I guarantee you and myself that I will never stop speaking until I got what I envision.

Thank you very much for a great support from you! Let's stay connected!

Neilly,

"You can do it if you believe you can."
