2013 VOF Week 4 The Power of Belief.
I have a vision. It started long ago. When I was a child, there were no inhibitions about believing that anyone could be anything that they wanted to be. I fully dove into every dream, making plans on how it was going to be a reality. I did not see skin color, nor did I understand its influence in the world. Boys and girls were equal. As a ‘tom boy’, I was always up for a welcomed challenge. These are the ideals that my dreams were built from. Regardless of the things I went through, I lived by the motto to “always be myself”.
Though I knew I was not perfect but I was proud of being me. Mindful of my fascinating feelings and emotions, recognizing the beauty inside and out, happy, confident, and ever believing that I could do anything I set my mind to. It is the distinction of self worth and confidence that so many have tried to crush. Some succeeded and I lost some battles, but I realized there is true power in a person loving their self because of these solemn attempts.
Needless to say, I realized the world was not ‘fair’. I set out to maintain the heart of a child and harbored the memories of believing that anything could be done as long as I set my mind to it. I committed myself to share my perspective of self belief with other, especially girls and women. I admit the reason began selfishly. Teaching others helps me to learn as well. It is a great foundation to put broken pieces of my spirit back together again.
See I believe that when you are destined to do something, the spark will never rest. The more a person tries to run, the stronger it gets.
I believe that I am a natural born leader; the events in my past were tests and preparation to make me a strong, humble leader today. I always sought out to empower others, encouraging them to believe in themselves. Acting in a leadership capacity also increases my capability to influence more people.
One day I hope to help design a program that enhances women entrepreneurship success. Because of World Pulse I am less fearful of taking the steps necessary to get there. Becoming a Voice’s of our Future Correspondent will give me a platform to cultivate reason among my peers. I would like to thank World Pulse for unlocking the power in me that will be used to ignite change with my voice and words. I now recognize the power of community and how good it feels to be a part of one. Realizing that every person I come in contact with can be empowered by my words, actions, and how I respond to situations both good and bad. World Pulse is a great platform for helping women and girls in the world.
The program I envision will provide business education, funding, and collaborative community services to teach women to build partnerships in their community. The program is to be designed with sustainability in mind. Linking women to firms in line with the interest of the businesses they are building. Long after the program is over, I envision women achieving a systematic business that employs others. Awards and low interest loans would be given after program completion along with a solid business plan that will be used as road map to their success.
I desire some program funding from new money entrepreneurs, celebrities, and entertainment professionals. My hope is that a collaboration of many voices will bring attention to issues effecting women worldwide. These funders' are great resources positioned in the media or have access to it so women businesses can connect to a larger public. By my innate ability to lead, time connecting with others, and using the newly discovered tools from being an active participant in change, I hope to launch this program one day.
Again just as when I was a child and there were no inhibitions, I want to fully dive into this dream, believing in its possibilities and sharing the belief that anything a person puts their mind to will be done.
