Introducing myself and my journal: No Longer a Victim

About Me:
I am a 65-year-old disabled woman, living in beautiful Ashland, Oregon, USA.. I was born into an Irish-American Catholic family, and have five brothers and four sisters, Although we were poor, I was able to attend parochial schools and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1965. When I was 16, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Luckily it was a non-cancerous tumor, but the side effects of poor equilibrium, double vision and slurred speech got worse as I grew older. Although I did go to college - San Jose State University- and received a B,A. in Speech Pathology, I never worked in the field. Instead I did a number of unrelated jobs, until my disabilities became so bad, I couldn't work, While planning my 60th birthday, I had a massive stroke, leaving me in a wheelchair with a weakened body and very garbled speech. An amazing thing happened with the devastation of this. I WOKE UP. Not only do I want to MAKE life happen for me, I want to join the rising up of women globally, ready to claim their human rights I enjoy reading, writimg poetry, surfing the net, taking senior classes and growing spiritually.

My Passions:
Spirituality, Poetry

My Challenges:
Daily living skills, speaking to be understood

My Vision for the Future:
The rise of women globally, including disabled women, bring peace, harmony and equality to the world.
