First week-- thoughts? Reactions?

Hi Listeners,

How did this first week of Listening go? Have you found some powerful voices speaking out? Have you made connections with new contacts around the world? I would love to hear your initial reactions to this process, and what you are feeling about your role as a Listener.

Also, I'd like to welcome a few new Listeners who are joining us just now! Please feel free to add your voice to this group at any time. On the group's home page there is a "Contribute" tab where you can start a new conversation thread.

Thank you all for being here with us, and for sharing your time and talents with our community.

In partnership and gratitude,

I have also enjoyed being a Listener and read such heartfelt and thoughtfully written essay. It has made me see that there are truly amazing individuals who are sensitive to the issues in their respective societies and who want to make a difference. I am very grateful to be a part of such a great project. I have also had the chance to connect with some of the Listeners and am impressed by their stories and their experiences.
Thank you!

I love being a listener!

I feel very grateful to and humbled by the courageous women who have submitted their stories. I visit the WP website every day and the stories I read not only give me inspiration and strength, but also make me very hopeful for a future where one day women the world over will stand together, side by side and equal in every way, to men!

I was very fortunate to be born and raised in Canada and blessed to grow up never really lacking for anything. I was also very lucky to have a mother who has always led by example; she's spent her entire life very involved in the community, giving selflessly to anyone and everyone who needs anything. So I've grown up seeing how her commitment to her fellow humans has enriched her life and it's been very natural for me to want to emulate her and give back to the world in any way I can.

It has always amazed me, and is clearly evident in the stories I read on this website, how strong women are and how much they can overcome. United, we truly are an unstoppable force!

Thank you WP--for this campaign and for all you do to ensure that women all over the world have a platform where we can have a voice and make a difference in every corner of the world!

"Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach" (Clarissa Pinkola Estes, author and poet)

I'm enjoying reading the stories of my sisters around the world. So much power, determination, vision and love! Thanks so much for letting me be a part of this.

It's also heartwarming to hear stories of hope and love for the young women coming into their own soon. That is SO important. While I grew up in a very privileged part of the US my family's heart was impoverished for various reasons. It's not the money, it's the love and support that mean the most to a young girl and boy, and that should be their privilege.

I've been reading over and over "thank you's" from women for creating this platform for them to speak out and share with others. It is a very unique and valuable gift. Thank you WP!

Beautiful words make for a beautiful soul.

Greetings All,

I really enjoyed reading the stories of four women from around the globe. The tenacity and perseverance of these women was highlighted beautifully. This experience much like my previous experiences with international work, always remind me how lucky I was to be born in America. It is unfortunate that such great disparities exist among countries, however, forums like World Pulse are aiming to increase empowerment, influence policy and change these inequities.

Looking forward to round two.

Great Opportunity

I am enjoying this great opportunity and thank you for reaching out to the listeners. As always, I benefit so much from these experiences. The pieces these women write are compelling. Even the stories that are less well-written than others are so appreciated-these woman are courageous to be sure. It is a blessing that World Pulse is there for them!
