Introducing myself and my journal

About Me:
My name is Liz. I am a graduate student at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon, United States. I'm working on a Master's in Social Work (MSW) and a Master's in Public Health (MPH). I currently work for a mental health agency, where I support individuals in accessing and maintaining safe and affordable housing.

I love to listen and I love to learn; I plan to be a life-long learner. I love hearing perspectives that are diverse from mine and collaborating and integrating with others to create something entirely new and unique. I'm a strong believer in healing and self-care- teaching ourselves and each other that we are worthy of love and nurturing no matter what we've been through. As a WorldPulse Listener, I'm hoping to foster all of these things and use my experiences to make and accomplish new goals!

My Passions:
music, books, my dog Sadie

My Challenges:
language barriers

My Areas of Expertise:
mental health, substance abuse, trauma-informed services, homeslesness, domestic violence, sexual violence

Hi Liz,
Wecome to World Pulse! I admire your dedication to mental health issues and to helping others maintain their independence in a safe and affordable way. It can't be an easy job so kudos to you!

Healthy self esteem is such an essential thing to have and I totally agree with you when you say that we're all worthy of love! It sounds like WP will fit very nicely with your desire to hear perspectives that are diverse from yours.

I haven't been a member of WP long but I've found it to be an active, supportive community with an empowering message so I encourage you to explore the site and interact with the community. Together I know we can all collaborate and become a powerful force for change in the world!

Again, welcome and I look forward to hearing your voice in the community!

Kind regards, Debbie
