Once Upon A Summer Break

Days pass slow, so as the internet connection,
Body's energy goes slow without any productive action.
There's got to be something more to do for this vacation.

Waiting for excitement,
Looking for adventure.
Hoping that when summer ends, I'll have one great story to picture.

April then when I read the post.
Oh look, an online writing activity,
World Pulse as the host.

I took no class nor do I have any allowance.
Hot weather's pretty dull, there weren't any other job nor training at scoop.
So why not take the chance?
I signed it up and joined the group.
There could be one thing inside [me] that'll improve.

I'm not that good at socializing, not even that good at writing,
But if joining this makes a good beginning,
Then I'll take the road less taken for a better experience.
A way to help women, a way to empower.
One thing to bridge gaps and break the barrier.

Love the poem!

Definitely a break from the prose and very unique! What specifically would you like to do with your global voice?

Thanks! Well, actually I'm a development communication student right now and many times I have notice that most media have focused themselves on the political scheme of leadership in our country, everybody talks about the money, national budget and corruption. There are already so many eyes on those issues so I thought why not look also on some other issues that only few can see, such as this one. I'd like this to be my start in opening my eyes and interact in my community since I don't always show myself to others in the past.

Thank you for your poem

Hello Say,
I'm glad you 'took the chance'! And I enjoyed reading your poem.
I especially liked the ending:
"Then I'll take the road less taken for a better experience.
A way to help women, a way to empower.
One thing to bridge gaps and break the barrier."
What do you see as the main barrier to women's empowerment? And which gaps would you like to see bridged first? I'd love to know more about the experiences that led you to be interested in these issues.
Keep writing!
Sally
