2013 VOF week 2

When I applied for this, something inside of me leaped! My first thought was...why didn't I think of this idea myself!!!!
Growing up in Lagos,Nigeria women are often seen not heard.Roles are defined and our culture is so bias against the women folk.this platform gives me the opportunity to express myself in terms of issues that girls and women alike find so so difficult to say!
How can u tell people u were raped;violated;verbally abused? They would say you as the female must have enticed the man to commit the hedious crime! How can u tell ur mum that her husband and ur father wants to sleep with u?my experience working with high school kids has shown me that these girls are pontential leaders and people ned to wake up and smell the coffee.women MUST believe in themselves and their God given gifts to forge ahead.
That's the voice am speak out for those that can't so that together we can heal and the next generation will be whole and not dysfunctional!

Speaking for the silent

Your enthusiasm and support for the girls is inspiring and your words, so powerful. As women, we are taught to be silent and invisible yet when we are given a voice, amazing things happen. I have no doubt the future is changing in your little corner, thanks to you!

Oh and please edit this piece and make sure you tag it with the words: 2013 VOF Week 2. This will ensure it contributes to your application for VOF.

2013 VOF Week 2

Thank you for ur inspiring grateful! I grew up seeing women taken for granted;being used and sometimes abused and subconsciously I decided I needed to make a difference in the life of some girls.women generally take a lot and I wonder sometimes how my mum and her counterparts survived it all! Am glad and see myself really privileged to making a difference....I have my personal business but volunteer with an NGO to teaching and forming a GIRLS-MENTORING-GIRLS club in a high school around where I live. Its always a joy to see the light in their eyes and the hope that am a catalyst in producing leadership traits in a Girl that would become tomorrow's woman.

Great Energy

Your voice rings out loud and clear in this piece, and you sound like a woman I would love to sit and talk with face to face! I especially loved your last line: "That's the voice am speak out for those that can't so that together we can heal and the next generation will be whole and not dysfunctional!" This line truly gives a sense of leadership and commitment to your community. Not only are you raising your own voice, you seek to work with others for the future. Inspiring! I love the energy of your writing.

The examples you give of the challenges faced by women in oppressive situations also lend an urgency to your mission to contribute to World Pulse.

Thanks for the good work, keep it up!

hi Dana!
i love the sound of 'i would love to sit and talk with you face to face!' part.
there are so many experiences to share that only make us stronger. When we think we have the most of issues and then we get the opportunity to hear from another we realise that our issues are so nothing!
feel free to invite me over to your country....i love meeting people and sight seeing *winks*
