Breaking free

book.jpg

My diary my companion, my sanity
My squiggly scribbles just so squiggly
Precaution to stop others from discovery
My diary I kept writing in short codes in secrecy

My diary full of random words
No meaning it will hold for anyone I ensured
My diary and its words – just words!
Brings the nightmares alive – leaving me drained!

My diary then, after years, transforms
Paper to screen. Squiggly words to veiled sentences
My diary and I, now we have privacy from the ‘spies’
Through password, files saved on those cumbersome floppies

My diary yet again, it transforms to interactivity
I no longer carry it with me, indefinitely.
My diary now online, my 'blogiary'
Sentences – expressive posts, prose and poetry

My diary no longer just my own anymore
Other kindred souls write on it too, make it grow
My blogiary now converse with a voice – it is raw
Supportive feedback, offers blissful comfort and more

My blogiary and me – we have tough days, true of late
I break down at points, giving up, I stop, to contemplate
My blogiary nonetheless, lives a life of its own fate
My diary - not just MY diary anymore!

My ‘blogiary’
My blog diary
My virtual diary
My life, my journey
My future, my sanity
My online community
My strength my sanctuary
My voice, I cultivate somberly
My friends! Support me gingerly!

I become you and me, a communion
I become African, American, and Brazilian
I become Bhutanese, Burmese, and Nepalese
I become Zambian, Egyptian, and many others

This I, becomes the common eye
This voice becomes high – stops the sigh
This we, in turn become the plea – the global cry
This cry will persist, will resonate, and will not simply die
Power to the womb of you and me, him and her, all humanity

This pulse in me will throb; these words in me will flow & gush
The arteries being you, the heart World Pulse!

Rare!

I rarely ever read poetry anymore, and never post modernistic poetry. Still, I did enjoy your way of constructing and deconstructing, of swaying and waving with worlds. Very intriguing! Thank you for this experience :)
Much love,
Ruth

just words

I honestly do not know what a poem strictly should be like in a linguistic sense. But yes, it should have some rhythm and and rhymes. I have not studied poetry as such.
These are just words that flow from my fingers on to the screen. These are words that do not want to form proper sentences and paragraphs. These words somehow people accept as poetry. And I let it be :)

Whatever it is, the are my words, my thoughts, my sorrows and my joys.

Thank you for coming over to my space and leaving an appreciative comment.

Welcome

Aminah, 'tis simply because I believe in your voice and one that humanity needs to hear !

In your difficult times, know that I am by your side -- you have my email address - feel free to write and I shall stand by you! Remember, Aminah, there is nothing that you can-not rise from, no matter what the predicament may-be, you have loads of strength and courage - I have known this since we found each other's writings. You are a brave, brave woman!
I keep you in my prayers and may you shine through all calamities - insha'Allah.

Am proud of you ! Also, this space at World Pulse is very encouraging, inspiring and safe platform for women to exchange and learn from each other. I have been a member since 2009 - though I must pen something as I have not in last few months.
So glad you are relishing the space and contributing also as a 'vocal contributor' is such less time - you just got here and look at you -- already shining and receiving wonderful comments and encouragement !

Brava !!! Maldives should be proud of you !!! :)
lots of love.

I guess I am standing tall and finding courage to write only because of encouragement by people like you. Once again thank you for taking time to read my rants.

You might want to read my last post I cry, I crawl ...I laugh, I sob, I hide it all :) tribute to you is included there.

As for your posts - it's been a while since you wrote anything here. But I did come across a feed from your blog in my e-mail. Haven't had time to read it though. My blog is taking back stage right now. Am spending so much time over here reading and commenting other's posts.

love to you

I really do not count myself as a poet.

Definition

When I was in school, I was taught that poetry is "the spontaneous overflow of powerful emotions recollected in tranquility." That is what you just did. You wrote down the words that came to your mind line by line, verse after verse.
So you are a poet!

I AM a poet :) wow !!! :)

Dear Precious (your name is just so precious - can't help smile. bless your parents)

Thank you thank you thank you. for confirming that my work falls into the definition of poetry :)
As I have said before, I have never learned poetry. At least when I was in school I was never interested in it and never ever thought I could write anything, let alone poetry :)

Now it's a long time after school and here I am getting strength to express my inner thoughts.

Thank you Amei,

This is the real me over here. And yet I still have some inhibitions of announcing this to the world.
I don't want to be judged by the people around me, in my community.
It is true that only those who are very tough can stand in and express openly in a society like ours in the Maldives.

Anyways, I am here because I want to break out of it.
Thanks for your support. Wish you greatness. I saw your efforts in bringing the rape victim's flogging case to the international community and was deeply moved that someone was trying so hard.

with all the best wishes.

You are welcome!

I truly loved the poem. Who cares about the correctness of the linguistics. We create for us and we pride in our creations.

My motto is simple "Do my best with sincerity and leave the rest to God' - this had done me good.

I love the person I see here. Full of life, passion and desire. We are strong together. Now I have you and I cannot express how happy that makes me. Take one step at a time. You are on the right path with Allah watching you over.

Have a great day!

your motto is my motto too. but sometimes in life, we can't help ask God why our best effort is not giving us our desired results :)

and yes, who cares about linguistic correctness. I write my mind out and that's enough.

I hope I am on the right path. I hope I can really break free.

Fabulous style and creativitiy

I love this, your style, grace, soul all stand out to all who read it. It may be hard to be who you are (inside) but keep working at it, girl. Most people won't understand you. That makes it easy to see that a new path is opening to you, a shift is coming where you will be with new people who understand you fully and love you anyway unconditionally when you are not understood.

Keep it up. Your soul demands it and the world needs the real Aminah. You are in earth school now learning your lessons. But at some point in the future the real purpose you were put on this planet at this time, will become clear to you. You will know because you will feel complete and light.

Mine never was a complete book. It was odd piece of papers, backs of school books or desk diary at work. It was just words at most :)

But yes, when I started to write on the screen things became easier. It is easy to write and also to keep to myself if wanted.
That's the beauty of blogging really. We can write posts and keep them as private unless we want to share it with readers.

You keep going strong girl.

Inspiring and all encompassing

Thank you Aminah. You have captured the essence of living life through the web, in a way that speaks for so many others too. Your diary, a mirror, to all of us now. I appreciate the emphasis on collective building and movement, to live, - this piece brings hope and encouragement to write more. Just words, you say. The words is what has made you and me to be and become.

Thank you, Aminah.

Thank you for your visit and leaving such appreciative words. yes words.
words make us who we are. words make up sentences and makes up messages.
So I guess I should not say "just" words huh? :)

Never to be alone again

Yes Debra,
I think I have somehow gotten enough courage to not suffer silently. I have a feeling I am getting there. where the pot of gold waits at the end of the rainbow.

I am so glad I have found like minded people with similar life experiences, or people with a heightened sense of right and wrong to actually fight for the good cause.

And your words particularly carries a lot of weight and I thank you for getting in touch with me through e-mail.

I will be writing to you more later. Just going through a hectic week on top of this collaborative exchange over here too :)
