Web 2.0 Gives Life to our stories

Web 2.0 is a very interesting platform which brings us all together to share our personal struggles and look for solutions. This application excites me because unlike before we had to travel to meet people and find solutions for our struggles but these days, we have a platform where we engage people from all parts of the world by using various social media tools like face book, twitter, linked and many more.
Web 2.0 brings solutions closer to those of us who are in need. By sharing our struggles on this platform we are able to encourage one another and also come up with solutions to our various problems and issues affecting our communities. Web 2.0 also helps us advocate better for the issues that we personally believe in and we are able to ensure that the problems affecting the people in our community are presented to various international organizations that can provide assistance to these communities. For a woman in a remote rural village web 2.0 has been able to ensure that her voice is heard all over the world and this encourages various other women to come out and speak because they know that their voice also matters. Most importantly web 2.0 brings people closer together and thus creates a network so that people can keep in touch and also eventually meet in person.
As girls we are taught to always keep our troubles to ourselves and this eventually destroys us as human beings. This is because society has always determined that a woman should be submissive and this has caused many women to sink into depression. Web 2.0 provides a solution to these women because they are able to open up and share their most intimate feelings knowing that there is a community out there that cares and encourages them to be brave and continue with the struggle. Most times all we need is to know that someone out there has gone through the same experience and she has overcome. This application is very powerful and women most especially those in very remote areas should be encouraged to use it to connect to the word and by doing so they will be assured that their voices will be heard and eventually causing change in their communities.
As a human rights activist this application is very empowering because it helps grass root women come out and speak and thus creating awareness on the various issues that are affecting them. In most cases it is also a way of seeking funding for projects that seek to better the lives of girls and women in rural areas. This application is very empowering because it has become my best friend whenever I have a problem I know I will find a solution and so I am so addicted to web 2.0. Web 2.0 is the future and we should ensure that the women in our communities know how to use this application because it gives life to all those unheard stories.

Totally Agree!

Anita,

Thank you so much for sharing! I completely agree with what you say. I like when you say, "For a woman in a remote rural village web 2.0 has been able to ensure that her voice is heard all over the world and this encourages various other women to come out and speak because they know that their voice also matters." Sometimes we take for granted that people know there voice matters. I think it is very important and empowering when women know their voice matters and so much can come from what they say :) I also love your last sentence, "Web 2.0 is the future and we should ensure that the women in our communities know how to use this application because it gives life to all those unheard stories." Giving life to the unheard stories is not only a release for the individual, but provides others with the knowledge of things they may not have been aware of and provides a platform of support, encouragement, and activism. I really appreciate you sharing and wish you the very best in all you do!!
