Introducing myself and my journal: Smart Voice

About Me:
I am Liberian journalist and have worked in the Liberian media for at least 8 years now. I have 5 years of programmatic experience in working with women groups at the community level. As programs coordinator for the female Journalist Association of Liberia, my major responsibilities include organizing professional trainings for women in the media, performing program outreach activities in communities, facilitating workshop and sessions on women issues.

I previously worked as the media advocate for the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) where I was responsible to organize radio programs for rural women under a project called the “WISE WOMEN”
In this project I developed training materials for rural community women groups. I also worked with Medica Mondiale Liberia as Communication Officer where I was responsible to facilitate behavioral change among rural women living in Southeastern Liberia.

I have a background in television production and vast experience as a field reporter on gender issues. I hold B. A. in Mass Communication from the University of Liberia, a diplomat in political reporting from the Liberia Institute of Journalism (LIJ), and have participated in several international conferences on women rights, and democracy.

I am the founder and Creative Director of a local youth media organization called Smart Media Liberia where we train young people as citizen journalists and produce mini documentaries on issues that affect women and children.

I am currently a producer for a television program called Voices That Matter" a program for teenage and adolescent girls.
I also facilitate workshops on Sexual and Gender Based Violence at schools and communities for young people.

Finally, I am the co-director of an award winning Documentary "Iron Ladies of Liberia"
This documentary followed Africa first female president and her women cabinet members as they made critical decision that determined the future of a Country devasted by 14 years of brutal civil conflict.

My Passions:
Women Issues

My Vision for the Future:
A community free of all forms of descriminations against women.

My Areas of Expertise:
Television Production, Even Planning, and Program Facilitating.
