Introducing myself and my journal: Rising with Women, Children and Mother Earth

About Me:
I am 53 years old and a first time college student! I am blessed to be the mother of a unique little boy who has grown into an amazing young man. I am in the Social Work program and an activist focusing on women's issues and the environment. I enjoy the privilege of volunteering my efforts in working with Neema Namadamu and her group of grassroots women leaders, Maman Shujjaa - Swahili for "Hero Women." In fact, I am presently planning a trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo this summer to work side by side with these incredible women!. I am blessed.

My Passions:
Activism, music, dark chocolate and coffee!

My Challenges:
I am challenged by my feelings of anger and despair when I get too entrenched in the systems that are at play.

My Vision for the Future:
A global movement of Women!

My Areas of Expertise:
Social media, making connections, listening from heart

I am so happy you have joined us. Neema is a dear friend of World Pulse and just one of the women who has dared to speak out for gender equality. Here, women are making connections crossing oceans, continents, and cultural barriers to change the way we live. Stories are being told, movements are being started and laws are being reformed as lives are transformed.

You are now a member of this vibrant community and I look forward to reading about your passions, ideas, concerns and dreams. You can share your ideas and dreams by writing in your journal, reading other member's journals and offering comments, and joining groups to participate in the discussions.

Again, welcome. I know that you will find PulseWire to be engaging, inspiring and thought-provoking.
