How we can assist victims of GBV

At ADVC we have a shelter which is operational and we can have up to 14 victims (clients) at any one time. We work in partnership with the police child and family protection units. So, the clients are referred from the police.
Of the many cases we have handled, poverty was the major cause of violence in the families. The women complained that the men did not take care of the families in terms of paying school fees for the children, buying clothing and even the basic, food.
ADVC engaged the clients on how best they can also contribute to the well being of the families. what came up was that they were willing to start micro businesses but lacked the start up seed funding. They can not access micro credit as they do not have any business or incomes. we talked to them on how they can raise funds and we believe, we an continue supporting many more women in building their capacities to run their own businesses.
ADC would like to hear from other pulse members the causes of domestic violence and how they are addressing them
