AM THINKING.........

Another edition is around the corner!!!
You should know what am talking about...
The International Women's Day! its march 8th in two days and that is the talk of the city... well amongst the ladies!!
For the past 27 years this event has gradually gained grounds and found a place in the society as a platform for women to express themselves.

Lets look at Cameroon, according to Mrs. Abena Ondoa nee Obama Marie Therese, the minister of Women’s Empowerment and the Family, government has taken the lead with measures that provide women with the means for effective and efficient participation in nation-building. She indicated it is against this backdrop that the government in the last two years trained some 16,968 women in project planning, preservation of agricultural products, dress-making and Information and Communication Technologies, ICTs.
She also revealed that grants of about FCFA 75 million were allocated to women’s associations nationwide and agro-pastoral material and other equipment worth about FCFA 43.7 million were offered and New women’s empowerment centres were created, taking the number to 89.

This is laudable and personally i congratulate the government on the efforts made to improve the situation f Women in the Cameroonian society.
BUT permit me say this, in as much as these efforts go a long way to improve the lives of some women, the majority of women both urban and rural remain unchanged year after year.

let me speak of my community, our mothers and grandmothers have received trainings, grants , equipments... as a farmer but what about the WOMAN?
The woman as an individual is still in state of total ignorance, besides being the wife she is or the farmer, she is completely in the dark when it comes to her status as a woman and her individual destiny.
It saddens the heart when such potential and wealth stored up in these beautiful creatures go unexploited and worse still when you attempt to bring them to a consciousness of the so much more that resides in them, they shy away, all in the name of accepting their fate!!!
Who said women were destined to be just the house wives and farmers and seamstress etc( nothing wrong with these professions) but i see a generation and that is now, where women accept first of all that they are a specie by the Creator with unique and peculiar abilities, necessary for the advancement of our society.

While we celebrate this 28th edition of the international day of the Woman, lets not forget, our Women for the past years have been learning all the crafts , all the trainings, seminars on empowerment... BUT self esteem, identity, acceptance of who they are is still an issue.
No matter how much you acquire skill, the character and nature to sustain you does not come with the skill, it comes with a revelation of who you are, what you are made of , how you are made , why you are made.......

IDENTITY: we got it all wrong from the start!!!
