Keep rising. Keep dancing
On February 14, I rose with my sisters and brothers in Portland, OR. We spoke up, we marched, we danced. We danced in solidarity with and in support of our sisters all over the world. We danced to break the chain of violence against women and girls.
Then, last night, I sang and danced with my Afro-Cuban salsa band. And, I was again reminded of the power of music and dance. You don't have to be trained or know the correct steps to dance. Everyone can (and should) dance. Dance is liberating, powerful, physical, emotional, joyous. Dance joins us together and forces us to take action.
