War, A Handicap for Development

For four days the people of Goma have lived unforgettable nightmares, with no water or electricity, no intense circulation of people. There are only looters and thieves who are delighted by this situation. Why just East of the DRC? Can’t differences be resolved amicably? Without the consent of the people, they come and impose war; they kill, rape, steal, loot... whenever they want. How can we recover the people and goods they have bombed? Villagers escaped insecurity and fled to the city, where they lead a very hard life. Now the people we meet in Bukavu are coming from Goma, although that was the city that was keeping Bukavu alive! The situation is catastrophic, yesterday there was panic in the city. The majority were young offenders who wanted to destroy and steal. Some houses have received the jets stones, fortunately the police has taken control of the situation in time. A march of civil society was organized to protest against the capture of Goma where over a hundred thousand mothers and children without toilet, shelter, medical care, or tarp under the rain, sun and other difficulties! Without food or drinking water as we denounced before , try and imagine the situation! Soon there will be epidemics and what our dear people will do? They will no longer has realize it but it is coming. That’s how it happens that a traumatized woman kills her own child, stabs her husband even when she’s three months pregnant; another just cut the genitals of her husband with horror her teeth! All this around the money, where are we going to find a similar situation? Daily activities and all family’s projects are destroyed. International Community, UN, OAU ICGLR, national and provincial government and all armed groups heard our cries. Even Congolese accomplices don’t have only look at their own interest in this country that was given to us by God because he’s going to ask the blood that it’s being spread in return. We want peace, just peace and lasting peace! And that all the guilty are punished.
We appeal for intercessors to pray for that Congolese are finally united to defy the enemy and the four corner hurricane. How does the country develops with wars overnight and all the consequences those bring? We still rank among the last! It’s not like God will judge between you and the people who suffer. We know that this is an economic war. You take milk from the cow know she needs to be maintained for tomorrow you'll need the milk from the cow. Monusco play your role properly and do not play double-edged sword.

hello

dear ruhebuza, it is a sad , worrying and scary situation east congo finds its self.i my self can not help but imagine what you people are going through? i experienced a part of war in my country during the 60s , lucky for me i was young but my parents and the rest had the brunt of it.
i know and understand what you people are experiencing, per harps much worse considering the level of evolution we have undergone in the last centuries with bigger and worse guns, greed and selfishness in politicians.
this is a war propagated by a few power hungry people and as is the case in such situations it is normally the uninvolved who are affected most. the failure of rebel commander to maintain discipline among their rebels and the opportunist who thrive in these situations worsening the anarchy are simply war manifestations one can not a void.

at this time all one can do is to do their best to see that they survive, it is very tough, they have to try.
i am so sorry that this had to be east congo again, and that it had to happen to you again. none of us wants to live not even briefly in any such situation. and unless the politicians seat down and resolve their issues, all you have to to is survive till then.
we keep praying that all turns out for the better.
take care and bye

Very scary

Thank you so much for sharing. Your piece was very thought provocating and it does show that changes need to be made. It is horrible what people are going through and my thoughts are with those who are suffering and effected.

We need to stop the war

Dear ruhebuza,

I want peace for Congo, I want and fight for peace for Congo wherever I can. The situation looks really bad and I bet it feels even worst. But we have to keep the faith that peace is nearby. We as humans cannot endure unless we make peace with one another.
In solidarity
