Merci beaucoup mes amies

English translation by PulseWire member MESSA

The future of a good number of girls and women is uncertain due to their professional life as well as the lack of job opportunities given they are not educated. Girls are not sent to school by their parents who prefer allowing them concentrate on house chores. These farming and house chores have consequences on the physical, psychological and social development of girls and women such as the risk of being raped. This is the case in East DRC with unwanted pregnancies, lost of self esteem, anti social attitudes, the poor perception of women by the community, prostitution, illiteracy, and poor relations between parents and girls. etc
To alleviate this problem, it is important to find solutions according to raised problems while assuring vocational training to girls and women as the brain behind their personal and community development.
Thanks a lot, friends.

Backbone

Women provide so much to their families and societies. Imagine what more educated women would bring? They are often the caregivers to the children, and if educated, think of the impact they could have their own children. It's fundamentally important to educate and provide opportunities to women. We are lost in a pratriarchal world, but the view can be changed to one of more balance. It will just take time. But, your individual awareness, and spreading this awareness to others is key because at some point the scales will tip, and the opportunities we talk of will be a reality. Stay strong and keep these thoughts alive by sharing them with others.
