PEACE AND SECURITY

For several months, we have decried the new outbreak of insecurity in eastern DRC, particularly in the provinces of North and South Kivu. It is recalled that since May the province of North Kivu constitutes the theater for foreign forces called M23. These militias supported by neighboring countries to the DRC, have operated in this part of the country. After some 3 weeks, with the holding of the Francophonnie summit, they had observed a truce which they lifted this weekend. Clashes resumed during the weekend, sending thousands of families to the street. The internally displaced persons are made up of the women, the youths, the children, the elderly who, for fear of being caught by the military shell, escaped from the Kanyiaruchinya camp to go to Kibumba where they can be approximately more or less than 90,000 people , living in sub standard human conditions, provoked by promiscuity, lack of drinking water, lack of humanitarian aid since the humanitarian NGOs there are overburdened and overtaken by events.

From the source of some displaced persons interviewed by the Okapi Radio at the site, there are already four people dead from famine. The opinion fears the outbreak of epidemic diseases due to these unhealthy conditions linked to promiscuity and the lack of drinking water. Several other consequences such as the rape of girls and women are to be decried.

These clashes have worsened the damages and abuses of civilians. Several people died, others were injured by the bullets and shells.

We continue to monitor the situation very closely, but then, the women, the children and the elderly suffer from very acute vulnerability during these armed conflicts.

From what is going on, the International community should understand that every people need to live in peace, if we want our planet to experience sustainable development.

Nobody can deny that war consequences on an environment are many on one hand and on the other hand, the boys and girls of the Eastern part of DRC are tired of the war.

You will understand that for over 15 years now, this part of the country is confronted with the discomfort not only of a wearying war but also of a blockage to the development of the whole nation.

We covet the support of all peace-loving people to plead for the return of peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

les dirigeants congolais

Bonjour Mme Madeleine

supporting you

Nita,

The World Pulse community supports you at this very difficult time. You do what is right and continue to speak of the facts by letting the world outside the DRC know what is happening.

It is important for me to be conscious and aware in my heart and mind of the human beings on our earth that are experiencing violence in war - because it is part of our planet's brutal reality and I believe we need to know the truth of our world.

Nita, thinking of you.

Warmly,

Laura

Thinking of you

Hello Madeleine,
Thank you for keeping us updated on the situation where you are. It saddens me to think that it will get worse before it gets better. Thinking about you, the women, the children and the elderly you speak of that are particularly vulnerable. Stay strong and continue your call for peace. With much love and support,
Heidi

Bonjour Madeleine,
Heidi

Dear Madeleine, You continue

Dear Madeleine,

You continue to write with clarity, painting a picture of the horrors experienced by ordinary civilians, by providing the details of the overriding political situation and bringing it home to us readers through the descriptions of acts of atrocity committed against individuals.

PLease keep writing for the world's sake.

Monica
