Loss and Gain, Sorrow and Joy; the Paradox of Life

Dear EVAW Listeners,

I am surfacing, in tiny steps, from the loss of my beloved mother last week. In so doing, and already hyper-empathetic since birth, I find myself all the more moved by and compassionate about the stories I am reading as an EVAW Listener.

Since you are one of my communities, I am sending you extra love at an emotionally vulnerable time globally.

Your loss

Hi Sarah, I'm saddened by the news of anyone losing their mother, after my mother passed two years ago. I've continued to pray for my mother's soul, as I promised her I would do. I put a photo of her on my "love wall" so I can be reminded of her. I'm more aware of her wonderful, outgoing, generous nature now and think I appreciate who she was and what she gave me. I guess loss is part of living, but it doesn't feel good while we are in it. Peace be with you, Sarah.

Thank You

Dear William,

Thank you for your kind and helpful words about the loss of a mother. I like the idea of your Love Wall!

Loss is indeed part of living, but, ouch! You said it: it is painful.

Love to you,

- Sarah

Breathe.....

Hi Sarah.

My condolences to you on the loss of your mother. I am very sorry. It is not my pleasure to welcome you to this club that no one wishes to be a member of.... With losing your mom you will find that you are not the same person that you were before, you have undergone initiation. Our anchor, our link to life on this earth has moved on. It is VERY surreal. Yet, we carry their breath and their blood in our cells, so they truly do live on in our every waking moment. Take heart in the little things that you find to remind you of her. They will surface in unexpected places and ways.
Grief has its way of emerging at strange times, and often uninvited...And yet you will find her essence with you when you need it, and when you don't. The love never goes. I got that one now. That is yours for always.
WIshing you love and comfort on your new journey as you breathe into this life through a different self.
Blessings....

I forgot to say...

I forgot to sign my name, AND to say that this is a FABULOUS photograph. Your mom was something of a free spirit from the looks of it... a woman with a cigar in the 40's! It's utterly a classic pic and so great that you have such a treasure. In more ways than one...

Love,
Laura

Be Strong Dear Sarah!

Dear Sarah,
Indeed life is a paradox. Although we feel the pain of loss, at the same time we get to treasure those unforgettable moments of love and laughter. I do not only imagine how you must feel, I can say I know the feeling myself, having lost my Dad almost a decade now. I assure you the pain will go. Though it may take some time, it will go eventually. And what you will be left with are those joyful memories and happy moments the two of you once shared.Be strong dear Sarah at this time of your grief. Be Strong!!

Your Truly,

Thank You, Gbemi

Dear Gbemi,

Thank you so very much for your words of comfort. I am sorry to hear of the loss of your father, but so reassured to hear that the immeasurable sorrow we feel in the early aftermath will lessen over time, and eventually go. I have so many joyful memories of my mother! She was full of laughter and fun!

Love to you,

Sarah
