WHAT OTHER HOPE FOR THE KIVU WOMEN?

Kivu female victims raped by armed men have begun hoping to re-find a sexual life after being raped, thanks to the psycho-social medical intervention of DR Denis Mukwege. The history of sexual abuse which the Kivu women experienced was considered a lie, a made-up story by dirty women who do not respect men. But a soft hearted man, a women rescuer, sacrificed his life to teach, gyneco-obstetrics in medicine which is very beneficial to women. In his professional life Dr. Denis has saved many women, including myself. Besides, he has taken care of female rape victim in a centre called: CITY OF JOY. This is a city which does not exist anywhere in the world except in the eastern DR Congo and mainly in Panzi / Bukavu. It is a center for female victims of sexual violence who have known wounds and are hospitalized in order to follow an adequate treatment. For us defenders of women's rights, this city has a double meaning: It is concrete evidence that proves to the world that the Kivu women are really victims of sexual violence mostly orchestrated by armed men. It is above all, Noah's Ark that receives and caters for rape victims who are stigmatized, deformed, traumatized and rejected by the society. What discourages us is the attack on Dr. Denis – the women’s doctor, in his home located on AV.E.P. Lumumba-not far from the MONUSCO base. We strongly condemn this act and call on the civil and military authorities to do everything to arrest these bandits and punish them in an exemplary way. Activists of men’s and women’s rights in particular, deserve maximum protection.
