Introducing myself and my journal

About Me:
I'm a single parent and in dire straits now. I had to move my daughter out of the home and country to keep her away from mental and physical abuse, My daughter is a hardworking, highly intelligent and very persevering girl. I have been able to see her through her entire undergraduate study in the US but now I'm completely broke and have no means to raise funds for her last two semesters. I'm looking and searching desperately for a kind Samaritan to help my daughter complete her education. I'm self-employed and don't have a regular job so banks refuse to give a loan. My daughter's career is at stake. Will somebody help out? I hope someone on this site will help me out.

My Passions:

My Challenges:
educating my daughter in the USA

My Vision for the Future:
helping needy children have access to education

My Areas of Expertise:

Hello and welcome!

Hello and welcome to our online network. It sounds like you are in a difficult position right now, and I hope that our community can help you identify potential solutions.

One thing that I would like to suggest is that you post a "Need" in our Resource Exchange. Be sure to provide as much detail as you can about the current situation-- what school is she attending, what is she studying, what does she hope to achieve with her degree, what is your specific need---these are just a few examples of questions that I have. Try to anticipate questions that potential contributors might ask. Click the following link to make a post:

Also, I encourage you to tell us about your journey that has led you here. By posting to your personal journal you can freely share your story with a global community here, who is ready to listen and support you. Click the link here to make a journal entry:

If you have other questions, I encourage you to look at our Getting Started Guide:

In immense need

Dear Mr Scott,
If you could understand the heart of a mother. My daughter needs financial assistance straightaway otherwise she will not be permitted to register for the next quarter. Please help. My daughter has not come home for the last three years and I don't have resources to see her. At Christmas will somebody help me in the name of Jesus. I waited a long time to send in this distress call because I didn't want to bother you too much. My condition is such that I have nothing else to do except beg for support. As I mentioned earlier we need money for the last two quarters and then maybe she gets a job to fund her further education.

Hoping for some assistance

Unfortunate situation

Hello Kiran,
I am so sorry that you are in this painful place. It is an unfortunate situation. Has your daughter been able to speak with the financial aid office at her University? They may be able to identify scholarships or private loans for her. I know that international students studying in the US are not usually able to get Federal funds, and private loans typically require a co-signer (someone willing to share the risk/responsibility of repayment). I hope she is able to find a solution soon! Is she considering applying for residency in the US?

My best wishes to you in this difficult time,

Scott Beck
