Introducing myself and my journal: The Invisible Veil

About Me:
I am Nidah Chatriwala, a modern example of modesty, who discovered confidence and passion from the people who shared their life stories with me. I was raised in U.S. but my traditional roots keep me connected to India. My background as a multimedia journalist includes a diverse set of works published and broadcasted on national and local platforms. I recently graduated with my bachelor’s degree in journalism with an emphasis in public relations.

My ability to work as a team player, meet deadlines, and go the extra mile, together with my penchant for detail, have contributed to my successes in the field of communications. I have performed a wide variety of activities, including creating and presenting press releases, coordinating public relations activities and conducting presentations. I have been responsible for authoring marketing and promotional materials, as well as content for company web sites. I am familiar with developing and maintaining successful relations with the press and media, and I have managed key public relations projects for my previous employers. In addition, I have over five years of social media marketing and management experience maximizing success for my clients to make them visible.

Moreover, my PR work extends internationally by promoting three Indian television actors (Aamir Ali Malik, Vineet Raina, and Abigail Jain) on social networking sites, managing their digital presence while increasing their fans and satisfying the celebrities’ publicity needs.

My volunteer activities include associating myself with local Muslim American youth organizations and assisting them in building strong characters, who will be the guiding light into a positive future. Furthermore, I blog as well. One of them is called Muslim Americans Image Makeover Panels, which had two panels, Muslims and Non-Muslims debating on topic of the week, and I'd compile their responses to illustrate unity between the two groups. This blog caught many people's attention because throughout my experience as a Muslim American journalist, I come across a large group of Non-Muslim Americans who demand to know more about Muslims and Islam. And this blog gave them a balanced insight between our believes and how similar we actually are.

My second blog is called The Invisible Veil, which is new and it's dedicated toward highlighting the importance of women's intellectual instead of judging her by her appearance. This is a growing struggle in U.S. where women must look attractive in a "professional" manner to represent their employers' identity in the community. Sadly, many get rejected at job interviews because of this excuse. Another purpose behind this blog is to illuminate Islamic teachings on women rights and beneficial practices advised for women of all faiths to follow. Women are good at many things, but if they surrender to faith, they will have confidence and respect that none could rattle.

Overall, I am an effective organizer and planner. My friendly nature allows me to interact well with the others at all levels and I pride myself on bringing the right measure of enthusiasm into the equation.

Aside from my professional background, I am immensely passionate about women rights and I strongly desire to be part of the women empowerment to so we can discover opportunities beyond the glass door. With my passion for writing and motivation toward a peaceful unity, I aspire to maximize this opportunity to spread knowledge, build relationships and together I hope to create a positive change in the community.

My Passions:
Knowledge, Truth, Journalism, and Justice

My Challenges:
Corrupted political systems

My Vision for the Future:
To amplify women power

My Areas of Expertise:
Writing, Social Media Marketing, Print, Broadcast, PR, and Digital Journalism
