Introducing myself and my journal: Vision and Voices

About Me:
I have been committed to affecting positive social change in my community for the last ten years through my political activism on college campuses and in the Portland community. My passion for activism and advocacy began in 2002 when I worked as a Student Advocate in the Women's Resource Center at Portland Community College through the Women's Leadership Program. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and completed a Master;s degree in Conflict Resolution at Portland State University in 2009. My thesis focused on sex work and moral conflict and incorporated the participatory action-based research method, Photovoice. Since then I have developed an interest in the use of photography, film, and social media in social science research and as a form of activism and community-building. I currently work as a Domestic Violence Response Advocate for the Raphael House of Portland.

My Passions:
Sex Worker's Rights, Photography, Arts-based research, Domestic and Sexual Assault Survivor Advocacy, Health Equality, Food and Nutrition

My Areas of Expertise:
Domestic and Sexual Assault Advocacy

Wecome to the community!

Hi Ctenty,

Hello and welcome to the community. I always get excited when I come across World Pulse members from Portland!

I see you're into photography. Do you have a website/blog? I'm really interested to hear more about your arts-based research. I love the use of music in advocacy and promoting human rights.

If you have not already, there are plenty of women here from US in particular that you might be interested in connecting with, and they're listed here:

There is another group you might be interested where you can connect with women passionate about sex worker's rights, available here:

If you would like some additional tips on making the most of what our site has to offer I encourage you to look through our Getting Started Guide, available here:

Also, I would like to encourage you to watch a newly released short video which features bold and amazing World Pulse women speak out. I hope you like it - available here:

Thanks again for joining with us!

Kind regards,
