God Really Helped Me
Now I want to tell you about the great miracles that God has done for me. Since my birth I grew up in a quarrelsome family.

My father loved to fight, in the district where he worked and even at home he would beat us and my mother. I recall one day he came at night very drunk. He took me and started hitting me until I lost conscience. Can you imagine? I was also interned in the hospital! When after two days I was finally conscious my father was in front of me crying, asking for my forgiveness and promising he would have never done it again.
He begged me a lot, we made peace and went home.
At the house he refused to drink.

From that day he totally changed and did not drink anymore.

This story was written for World Pulse’s Ending Violence Against Women Digital Action Campaign.

World Pulse believes that women's stories, recommendations, and collective rising leadership can—and will—bring an end to gender-based violence. The EVAW Campaign elicits powerful content from women on the ground, strengthens their confidence as vocal grassroots leaders, and ensures that influencers and powerful institutions hear their stories.

Survivor

I am so glad that your father was able to see what he had done and was able to change. I am glad that you were strong enough and survived this.

People are certainly capable of change and your story is an excellent example of that. I hope you are doing well.
