VIOLENCE DES DROITS DE LA FEMME EN RDC

INTRODUCTION

ils emploient les adjectifs possessifs à la première personne du singulier dont mon,ma,mes;

ABUSE OF WOMEN'S RIGHTS IN DRC
INTRODUCTION
Women’s rights in the DRC are trampled upon by self centered men who want to own all family property.
After several researches, analysts have concluded that women represent 52% and men represent 48% of the Congolese population.
In the DRC, women are more represented in income generating activities.
Example, the markets are overpopulated with women who trade, community works in our villages are carried out by women in the farms, churches are flooded with women who make gifts to their pastor.
With this in mind, we realize that the woman is the resource of the economy within the society

DÉVELOPMENT
During the civil marriage, the state officials, mayors, territorial administrators ask the to-be couple to declare their matrimonial regime and the majority opt for the joined property regime

However, some husbands claim all family assets such as the house, land, herd, and even finance and children

they use possessive adjectives in the first person singular of my, mine me;
they sell family property without the consent of their wives or their children
Upon the husband's death, the boys in the family become heirs without associating girls.
What an injustice and selfishness of the masculine gender!
Some women join associations in order to improve their economic level.

The NGOs working in our place, try to help women rear some domestic animals, microcredit, seed for their farms. Men ask for their interests because they are family heads. At times these poor women go bankrupt because of these dictator husbands who intimidate their wives. Most men neglect their duties give the women alone the responsibility for educating children whereas education is a partnership activity.

SOLUTIONS
1 Husbands treat their wives as partners and not like their objects. See the Bible; Genesis 2
2. The civil registrar s and churches should sensitize citizens on their conjugate duties towards one another.
3. The woman should ask for civil and church marriages in order to avoid shocks in their conjugate lives.

LES FEMMES SERONT AU POUVOIR

Bonjour Ma Namavu

Thank you

Thank you for writing about this form of economic violence against women in your community and your solutions for this problem. As you rightly point out, women are very important in bringing money into the family through their work, but they very often have very little or no control over the household's properties and finances. I think a very important contribution to solving this inequality is educating both men and women about the women's rights in a marriage and educate women in particular what action they can take if their economic rights are violated in her marriage.

Step by step - with resolve and solidarity

Dear Nita, Thank you for making us aware of these imbalances and injustices, and for sharing your ideas about what can be done to improve the situation. As has been said by so many, power is the ultimate aphrodisiac, and those who have it will not easily relinquish it. I agree with you that awareness and education are important first steps. And from awareness can come the conviction to fight for rights. It is a long hard fight but please know that there are individuals and organizations to help you. Thank you for getting the word out!

Economic empowerment for women

Namasu,
You bring up a lot of important points about economic abuse and how this impacts women’s lives. Education for men and women on the rights of women within marriage is a good first step. I also wonder how supportive the legal frameworks are in the DRC for women to inherit land, have loans in their own name, etc. Do you think that laws could be improved to better support women? Would this have an impact in your community or does there need to be a cultural change first?
Thanks for your input on this important issue,
Shelley

Hi Namasu
Thank you for sharing your story. Since women are the majority, do you think you can create a woman's club or group to stand up together and fight for your rights? The solutions are great and doable, I just want females to stand up and execute them.

Thanks,
Bina

Kind Regards,
Bina Patel
