We Are The World

it is midnight in Nigeria, where I live in FESTAC town Lagos, we have light just for one hour at the middle of the night so if I want to work without the small generator's noise and the cost for fuel, I must wake up to enjoy the light in the dead of the night while others are sleeping, this is Nigeria, a country that needs urgent attention.

I will love if friends out there will welcome my friend from Mexico, she is Laura Gamboa, she is my best friend though we have never met before, she has the manuscript of my collection of poems I am yet to get the copyright or publish, you can see how I trust her, we worked as volunteers for UN online volunteering and since we have become best of friends, why I want this special welcome message is because I sent her a mail to join WORLD PULSE and in less than few minutes I saw her here. We can change the world, let us change the world, all we need is a little light.

Fifteen years ago, at the University of Lagos, Nigeria the only female in the midst of men, midnight at the ususal meeting venue, it was the only association on campus where everyone's view counts irrespective of background, intellectual capabitlity etc. Usually no refreshment is served and we discuss through the night, most bystanders believe we were cult guys and most people keep their distanse, it was the League of Black Nationalists. There were lectures only on black leaders from all over the world, those who fought, are fighting for the rights of their people and survival of the masses. John Nagoza Jebe, Haile Sellasie, Jomo Kenyatta, Fawehinmi, Kwameh Nkrumah, Desmond Tutu, Mandela, Alex Laguma, Steve Biko. endless list.

There were series of lectures on marxism, revolution and the likes, those words moved us to tears, imprisonment torture, death and the likes but one thing is certain among us, there was love, there was unity yes respect! These men will accompany the only lady amongst themto her hostel at the dead of the night, no molestation, nothing negative wahtsoever, we have one mission fighting injustice and learning from the leaders of old and present. The league ws sacred. Looking back today, I smiled at our ignorance, the colour, the race, georgraphical location e t c, has nothing to do with humanity! It is the spirit in the case called body. We can only act where we find ourselves.

Although the League gave the begining of activism, but we now learn One World, One Love, One Respect for Humanity because in your own little way, in that corner where you are, you are touching your sky , touching lives. Enie, Leah Auma, Jensine, Waithaka, Nyiraneza,Lisa, Sarah, K, Jade Frank, Ebuntemi e t c, we all pick an area that touched our hearts we continually seek and proffer solutions, things can only get better whereever we find ourselves, we are the World, fighting injustice in one way or the other, promoting peace and love.

To every member of Pulse World, Happy Vals day, we are our lovers, irrespective of race, colour or location we are one.

One love,

Olutosin
