Dependence or Independence, which is your Choice?

Whatever we do, each and everyday leads to two things; Dependence or Independence.

Uganda is celebrating her 50th Independence in the next 09 minutes from NOW; but the question is, do we have to look up to the President to “feel” the reality of independence?

Independence to me means something personal. It means to work hard in order to earn freedom, peace and unity, not necessarily as a group, beings with individuals like you and me.

Lets try this, how old are you today? No matter your country, since you got your country got independence or let me say since you were born how much practice have you done towards your personal independence or for someone else?

Whatever we do, each and everyday leads to two things; Dependence or Independence. The developing world is depending on the developed world donations because they (we) have not been effectively led to independence.

The things that strengthen independence are; Education, Motivation and Opportunity, those that lead to dependency and forever depending are; Illiteracy, under minding people’s potentials and Discrimination (this is my belief). Dependence or Independence, which is your Choice?
Or what is your own definition of independence?

What is your goal in the next 3 years? How much could you achieve (for yourself or for someone else) in the next three years?

Help someone become independent today.

Great Post

Great post Achieng. Made me realize and understand the true meaning of being 'independent.' For me independence would be ,as you say, personal independence, a personal freedom of thought, freedom of choice, and freedom to live as per my diktats. Sadly, in my country, citizens, especially women, cannot claim complete independence because they are still chained by the norms of society. Women behave as per the society asks them to, they dress, they move, according to the rules laid down for them.

Until and unless, every human being is free from the clutches of undesirable and outdated norms of the society,we cannot have complete independence.

Thank you for sharing this.

Much love,

Mukut Ray
