Win a laptop - Writing Competition for Obama

Hi, All,

I'm finally posting something on my journal! Just a quickie, as I'm on my way out the door, but I've been sent an email by Concern Worldwide which I thought might be of interest. They're running the following competition to win some prizes which I thought might be useful to some of our members...

"The President of the USA is a busy man but you have a chance to tell him about some critical issues facing the world today.
Could you help him to understand the life of a child who goes to work instead of school?
Maybe you can describe how climate change is affecting people in developing countries? Or perhaps you can advise him on how to tackle world hunger to improve the lives of millions of people worldwide.

Your Task
Tell us what you would write to President Obama on one of these critical global issues:

Child Labour
Climate change and the developing world
World hunger

Your letter can be in the style of a factual essay or a fictional story on one of the issues."

Rather fitting topics, I thought. As I say, I'm short on time so haven't read the details/rules fully, but I haven't spotted anything which says you have to be from the UK to enter. If you want to explore this further, the link is: http://www.concern.net/what-you-can-do/schools-and-youth/writing-competi...

Happy writing!
Best wishes,
Sophie

important...

Sophie,

Thanks for this. I must look at it properly... any deadlines.. am also just about out ...Then you were at the door.. now you must be sleeping. Been up for a while since 2am enjoying sites... so thought as you are my friend on pulsewire I would get in touch to say hello.. and found this info you sent before.. I like to be part of the Obama change. I did a book on him for children. The Kenyan Boy who became President of America. It is popular with 10 years old and above.. I am doing another one .. soon. Not that this has sold out.. and also I did not do a good marketing of it...

I am impressed still by Obama's energy especially with his tour of Iraq... and other places..

best, and happy writing too!
Philo
