Historique:
l'Afedeco a vu le jour le 25 janvier 1994 à Kisangani (Province Orientale RDC) à l'initiative de quelques membres de l’ASF (Association des Anciennes Élèves de la Sainte Famille, Pensionnat Albert Ier de Bukavu, actuellement Lycée Wima). Celles -ci étaient soucieuses de dépasser des simples rencontres à caractère mutualiste afin d'évoluer vers un mouvement associatif de développement. D’abord AMADEC, (Action des Mamans pour le Développement Communautaire, elle devint AFEDEC (Action Féminine pour le Développement Communautaire) et enfin AFEDECO. Implantée depuis 2002 à Kinshasa où se trouve désormais son siège national, l'Afedeco fonctionne en structure déconcentrée, ses entités provinciales (Province orientale et Sud -Sud-Kivu) jouissant d'une autonomie organique et de gestion.
Sa devise:
- Travail de la femme, Espoir pour toute la communauté. Elle constitue à la fois son emblème et son slogan.
Ses Objectifs:
- Améliorer les conditions de vie et de travail de la femme en milieu rural, péri-urbain et urbain.
- Éveiller la femme sur son rôle dans le développement socio-économique de sa communauté.
Ses Stratégies d'intervention:
- l'appui tant matériel, financier que pédagogique à la base
- la sensibilisation sur ses différents domaines d'intervention
- l'encadrement des masses féminines désœuvrées par l'apprentissage des métiers en vue de leur autonomisation
- l'initiation des microprojets d'autofinancement
Ses domaines d'intervention: L’Afedeco est une ASBL multi-sectorielle qui œuvre dans:
- la Sécurité alimentaire
-les Droits humains et particulièrement de la femme
- les Violences faites aux femmes
- l’Éducation
-l’ Environnement
-la Santé et nutrition
Son rayon d'action:
- Province du Sud-Kivu en général et plus précisément : la ville de Bukavu et le territoire de Mwenga( Mwenga et Kamituga).

Ses Réalisations:
- Sensibilisation aux droits de la femme et de l’enfant, aux IST/SIDA, aux violences domestiques à l'égard de la femme à Mwenga.
- Création d’une école maternelle à Mwenga
- Alphabétisations des adultes (Femmes) à Bukavu, Mwenga et Kamituga
- Mise en valeur des parcelles de démonstration agricoles de: patates douces, Manioc, arachides et Mais à Mwenga.
- Réinsertion socio-éconmique des femmes victimes des violences sexuelles à Mwenga et des femmes déplacées de Bukavu, victimes des exactions dans l’arrière province (Mwenge, Shabunda) à travers : la coupe et couture-la savonnerie- le tissage des paniers-
- Organisation des sessions de formation sur ses différents domaines d'intervention.
Perspectives d'avenir:
- Intensifier et/ou étendre ses activités dans tout le rayon d'action.
- Ouverture d’un centre multi-sectoriel de formation pour la femme déplacées victimes des exactions

FEACODE Post Card
History: Feacode started on January 25th 1994 at Kisangani (Eastern province of DRC) by some members of the alumni of the Albert I Holy Family Boarding School Bukavu which is now called Wima High School. These ones wanted the alumni to leave from a social gathering and evolve into an associative movement for development.

It was first the Mothers’ Actions for Community Development. It became Feminine Action for Community Development and finally FEACODE (Feminine Action for Community Development).
Implanted since 2002 in Kinshasa which became henceforth its national headquarters, FEACODE operates as a decentralized structure with its provincial entities (Eastern and South – South – Kivu province) having both organizational and managerial autonomy.

Its motto;
The work (labour) of the woman, Hope for the Entire community. This serves as its emblem and slogan

Its objectives;
- Improve the living and working conditions of the rural, semi urban and the urban woman
- Enlighten the woman on her role in the socio –economic development of her community.

Its strategies of Action:
-Give material, financial as well pedagogic support from the base
-Sensitize on the various domains of Action
-Initiating the unemployed female masses into apprenticeship in various domains leading to their autonomy
-Initiating auto financed micro projects
Its spheres of action;
FEACODE is a multi sector based NPO (non profit organisation) which covers;
-Food saftey
-Human rights and especially of the rights of the woman
- Violence against women
- Education
-Environment
-Health and Nutrition

Scope of action:
- The province of South Kivu as a whole and specifically the town of Bukavu and the Territory of Mwenga (Mwenga and Kamituga)

Achievements;
- Sensitisation on the rights of the woman and of the child, Sexually transmitted Infections/AIDS, domestic violence against the Mwenga Women
- Creation of a nursery school in Mwenga
- Increasing Female Adult literacy in Bukavu, Mwenga and Kamituga
- Valorize portions of land for agricultural demonstration ; sweet potatoes, cassava, groundnuts and maize in Mwenga
- Socio -economic reintegration of sexually abused female victims of Mwenga and the Bukavu displaced women, exaction victims in the far province(Mwenga, Shabunda) all through ; hairdressing, dressmaking, soap production, basket weaving.
- Organising training sessions in the various domains of influence

Future prospects:
- Intensify and /or widen its activities covering the whole scope of action
- Opening of a multi sector based training centre for the displaced woman – victim of extortion

Grande Dame Jaquie,
merci pour votre article. vous etes une icone dans votre pays. Je penses biens que vous etes parmi les membres de l'ASF qui on forme l'AFEDECO. Son evolution de l'ASF a AFEDECO est tres interresant et votre style est tres practique et simple a comprendre .

Le bilan des vos realisations est tres attirant et ca sera une bonne chose si AFEDECO pouvait collaborer avec les autres groupes feminines pour les donner les idees.

Ne baissez pas les bras, que le drapeau de femmes congolaises soit elever plus haut par AFEDECO.
