Propsition

On the international and national map, we ask you to collaborate with the Congolese government to find lasting and long-term solutions to end the problem of war and instability, particularly in the East of the country. That is what causes even sexual violence against Congolese women.

On the social map, we ask that there be socio-economic integration of Congolese women across the design of income-generating activities.

For example, micro-credit grants that psychologically and socially support raped women in Chabunda, that support children orphaned in the war and the creation of jobs for widows.

Also, next time I want to send you a conceptual letter for a project.

This story was written for World Pulse’s Ending Violence Against Women Digital Action Campaign.

World Pulse believes that women's stories, recommendations, and collective rising leadership can—and will—bring an end to gender-based violence. The EVAW Campaign elicits powerful content from women on the ground, strengthens their confidence as vocal grassroots leaders, and ensures that influencers and powerful institutions hear their stories.

Excellent Proposals

Mambo Filomene, I want to commend you for the very excellent proposals you have set forth here. War and the products of warfare often include unfortunately the raping of women and girls as well as creates mayhem in society. Law and order are tossed aside and this no doubt accounts for the instability that follows any outbreak of war. It is sad and unacceptable however that men and boys should turn against women who are their mothers, sisters and daughters. My hope is that your plea for income-generating projects, such as micro credit loans and grants, will become a reality and help assist these traumatized victims of rape and war. Women have indeed proven to be great bread winners and leaders when afforded the opportunity. Thanks for your great insight into these issues that plague the Congolese people in general and especially the women who were raped in Chabunda.

Dear Mambo Filomene,

Thank you for sharing your energy with us. I think that you are a woman full of energy and enthusiasm and that your community is very lucky to have you around. YES!! Do try to think of alternatives to help women around you especially those most destitute. I'd like to read your project and if possible help you with it.

all best and lots of positive energy,

Projets

Filomene,

I appreciate the fact that

I appreciate the fact that you've addressed the need for involvement on the international, national and social fronts. The micro-credit grants are an excellent example of a specific way people around the world can help.

Thank you for a concise piece that suggests some of the key problems facing women in your country.
