Awareness

After reading three stories today I realized that not every country is in the 21st century. I am amazed both legally and culturally that negative events on women (polygamy, violence, marginalization, etc) continue to persist. Not only do they persist but they are accepted. Becoming aware can be educational but also depressing. I hope my feed back keeps the writers inspired to make positive changes occur.

reminds me of something

your comment reminded me of a text i read once on a feminist's blog, saying that once you start seeing those things, you can never "go back" and forget about them. They stay in your head and influence the way you're understanding the world and its power relations...

(after some minutes of browsing my Facebook for finding the link again, here it is! http://community.feministing.com/2012/02/15/i-dont-want-to-be-a-feminist...)

Best,
Aurore

Welcome Aurore

Hello Aurore,

It is nice to have you be a part of WP. I am a fairly new, but active, member. I love your Lucerne products by the way.

Anyhow, I am from the USA also (Chicago). While I do not have any physically violent experiences, I also feel that hopefully my feedback will be encouraging. And it is, as yours will be. When things are really bad, sometimes just hearing a supportive word can mean so much. For example, though I have no violences to report I write in my journal about the psychological issues I had to work through such as Invalidation, women's empowerment and meeting an Islam man in a different way. So, there are many ways to contribute. The fact that this site drew you to it, means you have much to give us.

Welcome.

I AM ONE IN A MILLION

Wendy,
Thanks for reaching out to me. I just reviewed your website and am happy to see the pictures of how you have changed peoples lives. I work for Lucerne Foods which is a subsidiary of Safeway. Safeway owns the Dominicks stores in the Chicago area. I have listed a link below on how to get your organization funded by the Safeway foundation. One of the areas they fund are education.

I wish you the best of luck in your journey to fulfill your mission statement. Keep me posted on your progress!

Thanks for going the extra mile.

Hi Justin,

I was happy and surprised to receive your message and encouraged that you took the time to check us out. I will definitely follow up on the Safeway Foundation and keep you posted. We definitely need help to go the next step and this would be tremendous if it works. I appreciate your taking the time to advise me.

As we speak I am in Livingstone Zambia working with my older street orphans but also supplying education materials to a new very little private 3-5 year old pre-school. They had nothing. But we brought everything they will need. It was a great moment. My goal is to find those who have the intellectual acumen for higher education, work with them so they can go to a good private boarding school in a few yeas, and be sure they have the chance to make their dreams come true.

Justin, again thank you. I will keep in touch.

I hope your life is going well.
