Married women are often victims of tenancy agreements
Many women’s husbands are absent from home. One day, the landlord sends a police officer, ignoring the fact that the problem between landlord and tenant is civil in nature. The woman refuses to answer for her absent husband, the police officer brandishes his gun, ready to fire, and a neighbor –who is part of the Armed Forces–, intervenes, begging the policeman to stop.

Hello Wakenge
That is so terrible to hear about that happening to women. What is it the police officer expects from the woman? Would he have shot her if the neighbor had not intervened? Thank you for sharing this story. I am sure all of the women whom experience this would be glad to know their stories are being told.
Sending you love and praying for peace in your home,
Victoria
Is this common?
Hello Wakenge. I am sad for the woman in your post. Does this happen to many women? Are the Armed Forces less corrupt than the police? Certainly no amount of force can get the results the landlord desires. And I don't believe threats and intimidation will help the matter either. Are their any village leaders who could help to mediate for the women in the community?
Peace and blessings to you, Wakenge!
It's sad
It's sad that the landlords threaten the women and show their power in such a way, and it's shocking that the police is supporting such a practice. Thanks for telling this story to make it public. Maybe if more people know about it, some people can come together and find ways to stop such power abuse.
You are brave to tell this story
Thank you for telling us this is happening so often. Women need to protect themselves and one way is to ensure that when bad things happen, there are many others who will come and watch and make sure no one is hurt.
By telling us and others, if it does not put you in danger, you help and indeed, you have helped.
I hope that, together, your community can come up with a way to make it safer for women when their husband is not home. I wonder if this happens to the wives of military officers or police when they are not at home?
Thank you for telling the world what you have seen. It helps many to hear that they are not alone and that things are going to change for better in the world.
