PROBLEMATIQUE DE L’ENFANT CONGOLAIS

INTRODUCTION
Dans notre pays de la R.D.C, les finalistes du niveau universitaire augmentent le nombre de chômeurs chaque année.
Un médecin qui totalise 2 ans de chômage vient de créer une petite boutique dans laquelle il vend les produits vivrières tel que : la farine, du riz, poissons et sans omettre les tubes de toilettes pour les dames.
1) A l’âge de 12 ans l’écolier termine le cycle avec l’obtention du certificat du cycle primaire, six ans après il décroche son diplôme d’Etat dans de différentes options.
Il poursuit ses études universitaires et obtient son grade vers l’âge de 21 à 22 ans. Il devient licencié aux environ de 25 ans.
Le candidat fonctionnaire commence à expédier ses lettres de demande d’emploi dans différents services de l’Etat.
La réponse est toujours conditionnelle : avoir quelques années d’expériences ou il n’y a pas de poste vacant.
2) Les finalistes qui ont eu la chance de poursuivre les études à l’étranger trouvent facilement l’emploi dans les ONG locales. Les pauvres lauréats malgré leur distinction trainent dans le chômage indéterminé. Les années s’accumulent jusqu’à l’âge d’environ 30 ans. Il attrape un boulot quelconque, il saute dessus pour fuir le chômage. Le résultat de son travail est parfois insuffisant parce qu’il ne maîtrise pas le domaine.
Ex :
- un médecin qui fait le commerce.
- Un ingénieur agronome qui devient politicien par l’intermédiaire de son frère.
Il fait ses économies pour préparer sa vie future pendant 30 ans et se marie aux environs de 33 ans.
Ils voient leur premier enfant à 35 ans.
Cet enfant termine le cycle primaire lorsque son père a 41 ans.
Cela montre le retard qui se pointe déjà avant que son premier enfant ne termine ses études universitaires.

SOLUTIONS
1. Bonne gouvernance.
2. Création des emplois (agricoles, technique, médecine etc…..).

After two years of being unemployed a doctor decides to open a small shop where he can sell things like flour, rice and creams for women.
1) Aged 12 a pupil finishes his first cycle of studies with a certificate from the primary school. Six years later he obtains his State diploma and has different options.
Around 21 and 22 years old he will finish university and obtain the degree around 25 years old. If he wants to become a government functionary he will start sending letters for job openings with the Government. The answer will always be the same: you need more years of experience or there’s no job for you.
2) Whoever has had the chance to study abroad, can easily find a job in local NGOs.
But the unfortunate graduate with distinction can go over years of unemployment. Years will pass until they reach the age of 30. At that stage they will get whatever job happens to be available. And the results of the jobs are often insufficient because he never masters the skills.
For example:
- A doctor that works in commerce
- An agronomist that becomes politician thanks to his brother
He made his savings to prepare for his future life for 30 years and married at around 33 years.
They have their first child at age 35. This child completes primary school when his father is 41 years old.
This shows that the delay already advanced before the first child completes his university studies.
SOLUTIONS
1. Good governance.
2. Job creation (agricultural, technology, medicine etc .....).

Congolese Education

Bonjour Lubala,
I am sorry to hear of the problems of unemployment in the Congo and that even those with a distinguished education are unable to seek employment or employment in their field. There are many graduates in Europe and north America too, who are graduating into a world with few opportunities. Education is often seen as the means to greater job opportunity, and to elevation from poverty. Yet, if there are no jobs for the graduate to enter, what then?
I like that you posit solutions to the problem here. How do you suppose good governance might help solve the problem in the DRC specifically? And how might the DRC increase opportunities in agriculture and medicine for example? Do you see a need for those areas in particular to be improved?

Catch 22

Lubala,

Thank you so much for sharing. This is a problem I have also seen here in the US. I have seen job postings requiring large amounts of education and large amounts of experience. If you don't have the education you can't get the experience and if you don't have the experience you can't get the job. It seems very difficult and I often wonder why this is. If there is a reason why jobs make it so difficult. Also I have often seen that they require a lot for the job and often pay very little that someone often "prefers" to seek out alternate employment. We are always told to follow our dreams, but I wonder if we were told where are dreams would take us (or wouldn't take us) if we may make alternate choices. It's a difficult decision. I appreciate you sharing!!

as others have mentioned, the problem of unemployment is widespread and has many disturbing facets. I would have loved to read more from you on how this is affecting women in particular.

Also, it is easy to talk about 'good governance' in broad terms, but what does it really mean to you and me? How can the government reach you, right where you are, and make a difference? I am sure you have some great ideas, and I hope you will share them.
