The Ongoing Violence In Eastern DRC

Greetings again!

My worry is that Eastern DRC continues with violence in an extraordinary way.
We do not know how to go about with our job applications. Even if a woman or a girl has studied and wants to work somewhere, she needs to sleep with the persons recruiting, whereas women themselves don’t have many opportunities to recruit others. If our government can find a solution or a judgment or sanction against those bosses, this could make us live without being afraid of anybody.
I want that our alarm shouts should reach our worldwide community for women- WORLD PULSE so that one day the women of DRC may have a suitable place to work without hesitation.
I thank you very much.

World Pulse believes that women's stories, recommendations, and collective rising leadership can—and will—bring an end to gender-based violence. The EVAW Campaign elicits powerful content from women on the ground, strengthens their confidence as vocal grassroots leaders, and ensures that influencers and powerful institutions hear their stories.

Abus sexuel

Mumbalima,

Dear Mumbalima,
Thank you for bring up such a timely issue. It's appalling that the women you mention--those who somehow manage to escape or evade sexual violence in the form of sexual mutilation or rape in their own communities, are then forced into the very situation in a work environment. You bring to light the problem women face in every facet of life in the Congo. What steps do you envision need to be taken initially to enable women to apply for and engage in work outside the home without being subject to rape and other repercussions?

Hi Mumbalima

I am so sorry to have to say that it is the same almost all over the world. What should we do? Perhaps it would be a good idea for women to get together and plan something to build up a "Resistence Movement". Maybe if we work together in only one purpose at a time, we will end up achieving more that we ever thought.

Best,

Jackie
