helping newborn babies survive

Last month a small group of us crocheted and knitted infant size caps for new born babies in Liberia. We filled a box with about 150 caps, put in several large bottles of pain releiver pills and mailed it off. The postage was about $50.00.

The reason we did this is that I saw a new born baby while I was there last July. It had no cap and since Western medicine has decided that babies need to keep in their body heat, even in hot climate, I decided to crochet some caps for them.

I encourage everybody to make some caps. I'll bet there are new born babies born at home and kids on the street, who would appreciate a warm hat. I'm wearing one right now, inside our heated house--of ocurse it is snowing out.

Your empathy and thoughtfulness always make me smile! Can I send you a warming hug over PulseWire?

I can't wait to here what wonderful thing you are doing next.

What a warm, homey post,

What a warm, homey post, William. Photos would be great to see if you do this again and have capacity.

Have you known how to knit and crochet long (if you don't think that's a sexist question)? I think it's such a nice skill to have.

Warm regards,

~ Maya
