WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT QUOTE
The following quote is attributed to Nelson Mandela from his 1994 inaugural address in South Africa. Actually, it was written by Miriam WIlliamson as part of her book "Return To Love". I used it often with young people in my substance abuse clinics and it created strength and focus. I have recently sent it to a World Pulse friend who was also inspired by it. EVERYONE who comes to World Pulse is working so tirelessly in one way or another for women's empowerment. May this be the wind beneath your wings:
"Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, beautiful, talented ,fabulous?" Actually who are you not to be?
You are a child of the Universe (or God or Allah). Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of our soul that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatially liberates others."
