Introducing myself and my journal: Women and disasters
About Me:
I am a researcher at the African Centre for Disaster Studies at North West university in South Africa. My focus has been in promoting gender mainstreaming in disaster risk reduction and disaster risk management. I originally came to south africa to implement the Girls in Risk Reduction Leadership Project GIRRL project which seeks to empower adolescent girls in poor communities in South Africa. I have replicated the project in four sites in North West Province. We have recently advanced the project and are going to be doing training sessions for project implementation in six countries in SADC.
My Passions:
Empowering women and communities

Funding, unfavourable policies and lack of prioritisation fby leaders.

Strong leadership promoting gender mainstreaming in africa's disaster risk management
