Introducing myself and my journal: Measuring Women's Empowerment?

About Me:
At the moment, I'm in search of the meaning of women's empowerment... There have been many academic attempts to find the meaning of empowerment in the past, most of them have been critiqued for missing out on some aspect of empowerment or the other. Therefore, I would like to explore various understandings of ‘empowerment’ and women’s empowerment in particular and attempt a definition based on people’s voices and experiences. This research is done in the wider context of my master’s dissertation for the MA Gender and Development at the Institute of Development Studies in Brighton. It aims at addressing difficulties in the measurement of women’s empowerment. Therefore I'm trying to gather as many voices as possible from people all around the world to find out what women's empowerment means for them.
