PEACE AND SECURITY

We have just learned with great interest, of the appointment of a woman at the head of the commission of the African Union. We are very relieved to see that gender is about to gradually reach its place in the world. As women living in a country with armed conflicts, we Shujaa Moms from the east of the DRC, the area filled with war, we ask Mrs Zuma that she places at the forefront, as her war horse, the issues related to PEACE AND SECURITY.

We reassure her of our full support. We ask her to have a more realistic look on how the resurgence of conflicts in Africa has very unfortunate implications on the lives of women, including those of children.

That being so, we ask her to work for everything that the war raging in eastern DRC, more particularly in North Kivu province, cease immediately, unconditionally ...

Many women suffer, they live very inhumane conditions. We hope that Mrs. Zuma, in her capacity and as a woman will raise challenges.

Madeleine, The appointment

Madeleine,

The appointment of a woman at the head of the commission of the African Union is very exciting. Women's welfare undoubtedly will be at the forefront of her agenda.

Peace and Security are the right of all human beings and it is the overwhelming force of strong women who will bring peace and security to our world.

Thank you for posting and keeping us on World Pulse up to date on what is happening in the DRC.

Best to you!

Laura

Women in the Forefront

Dear Madeleine,

The appointment of Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as the new head of the African Union Commission is very exciting indeed. It is one of the most powerful positions on the continent and now Dlamini-Zuma will be one of the most powerful people on it. This is a step forward for the unity and rights of women everywhere--not just Africa.

Let us hope the zeal and determination she has previously brought to domestic issues will serve her well as she will attempt to heal the many conflicts in her new role as a diplomat.

Please keep posting--the world is watching.

Best,
Deborah
