A mum trying to make a living writing novel

I'm not sure if this is the correct site to be using and I hope I'm not offending any of the amazing women on here with what, after reading some articles on here, seems quite trivial.
I'm a mum of four, and I've spent my evenings over the past two years writing my first novel in order to make a living around my children, without having to leave them in the care of somebody else. Finally, I've completed it and self published it on Amazon. However, Amazon do not seem to promote new books from unknown authors in any way. So it's just sitting there and nobody knows it exists. Therefore, I am just trying to let people know about it by word of mouth.
The book is called Out Of The Mouths Of Babes by Sarah Pearce.
Once again, I apologise if this is too trivial for this site.
