Tears and Voices of Afghan Women Poets

As a poet, photographer, and writer: I cannot think of peace in my Afghanistan without its women's emancipation for rebuilding the present and future. Alongside their other activities, I want them to nurture poetry in their daily lives. Poetry is knotted in our blood, and we want every Afghan to let the poems of their minds grown. The poems, which are intoxicated with the conjoined pain of joy and despair. .
This video brings the lives of several young Afghan women, who write and have their unique voices for having a possible vision for bringing about change in Afghanistan.
As this video [photo-slideshow], we have shown that there is always a room filled with candles, butterflies, and flowers hanging on the walls of Afghan women's minds. We just need to observe the essence of love in our hearts. In these photographs, as you can see, we have spoken to the walls and turned the darkness of the night into poetry itself. We truly blessed with Rumi's saying that, “Only from the heart you can touch the sky.”
The big thank you goes to my Afghan fellows for their cooperation.
Thank you so much you all as well.

Afghan Women poets

What a beautiful and inspiting video. I was so moved by it. Your courage and strength in the face of such violence and misogny is quite amazing. I agree that poetry can be a powerful voice for cultural transformation. Here in the U.S.A we just lost the poet and women's activist, Adrienne Rich. She too believed passionately in the power of poetry as an agent of change. Blessings and my thoughts are with of all of you as you continue on in struggles for dignity and equality.

Dear Fellow:
Inspiration comes when we are reaching each other's wisdom. Poems are powerful for they conjoin and knot all human race in one line, which is called love-care-kindness. Poems should be as weapon for Afghan women to fight back with voilence. I believe in power of words.
Thanks,
Parwana Fayyaz

Dear Parwana,

What a beautiful statement about inspiration! You are the greatest inspiration-- not only are your creative and intellectual gifts boundless, but it's your immense generosity and great love, that ensure your gifts will seize and embrace the world. Being thoroughly and continually inspired by your courageous vision, your complete poetic response to living, I have typed up this quote (yet another of yours!) and put it above my desk. Thank you.

Love-care-kindness!

Dear Sakina jan:
Thank you so much for following my blogs. I appreciate it.
Thanks,

My dear Parwana,

You as activist, artist, poet and convener, have brought together a visual tapestry of fearless, brave Afghan women voices. Each one, including your own, calls the world to recognize the power of your poetic visions to break the cycle of misogyny, violence and injustice. Each one of you could have made different choices-to live in fear, suppress your voice, accept that education was out of your reach, silence your dreams, live paralyzed by trauma, or declared war through revenge. Instead, this beautiful transmutation is a declaration of peace. THe collective voices of you and your Afghan sisters, the butterfly (your totem), the healing lights and magnificent presences of these women...all bring to us an alternative vision of how to live..in our hearts, in Afghanistan, in the world.

It was especially moving to hear Fatima's voice after hearing her harrowing story of loss that you shared so eloquently in a previous story. It is a lesson for each of us in moving from victimized to empowered in spite of our circumstances.

A bow to you dear Parwana, it continues to be a privilege to be part of your leadership journey. Thank you for bringing this extraordinary piece to VOF, to the community and now to the world. Love and blessings, Ellen

Thank you Ms. Ellen:

Dear Ms. Ellen:
I have learnt that facing fear and walking toward challenges make humans fearless. And when we are fearless from situations, we are the change.
Breaking the fear comes with "love of learning," and I want to suggest all my friends to love what they are learning, rather than forcing themselves to learn things. I am also glad that I got to meet you too in this journey, it has been a good experience for me.
Thank you,
Best regards,
Parwana Fayyaz

Dear Nasreen:
You are, indeed, right. Rumi says that, “We love: that's why life is full of so many wonderful gifts."
