Volunteer Position Description
Are you a nurturer by nature? Solutions-oriented? Do you love to be in service to others? Does the thought of using web 2.0 to form meaningful relationships with women from Cambodia to Peru make your heart soar? If so, read on!
The World Pulse Online Community Volunteers are active, engaged members of our online community newswire, PulseWire. The volunteers are connectors, supporters, teachers, huggers, facilitators, nurturers, activators, and most importantly, genuine community members and friends.
Specific tasks include, but are not limited to:
Friending new members
Contributing to conversations
Praising exceptional users and content
Being “present” and accessible to users.
Educating new users on community features
Recommending community connections to members
Type of Position
Part time (10-15 hours) unpaid volunteer position; internship can be arranged for college credit.
Requirements
The ideal candidate has a global soul, excellent intercultural communication skills, and a passion for World Pulse's unique editorial voice and mission.
Additionally, candidates should be excited by web 2.0 media, communications, solutions-oriented news, women's studies, grassroots activism, and citizen journalism. Experience with social networking sites required. Candidates who can speak a foreign language will be given top consideration.
