A WIDOW IN NEED
A WIDOW IN NEED:
Born in 1986 and later my father dies in 1989, was the beginning of My mum's Journey to Widow hood. for more than 25 years i can recall the prayers that my Mum prayed every night before we went to sleep. " God help me that I may raise this family in your hands, please God provide for us, We need food, these children needs school fees, clothing, medical care, finances to build my house so that i can move from this house that the family members are demanding that it belongs to their Son (my Husband)... looking into her eyes i saw tears coming down and I was overwhelmed with feelings and the challenges that my mother underwent.
Being the Last born in Our Family, I slept beside my mother for more than 14 yrs sharing the rags we called the beddings... ntil 2011 june i said Good bye to my sweet mother, A woman who gave it all to her children, a woman who dreamt for bigger things for her children, a woman who never gave up to take us to the orphanages to survive, a woman whose heart was for her fellow widows to grow together, a woman who brought difference to her children by sharing the realities of life, a woman who made God as King and a husband and the father for her children.
On the burial day that is the day i begun to reflect the reality of being a widow: NO FOOD, NO CLOTHING, NO HOUSE TO CALL A HOME, NO MEDICAL CARE, NO INCOME GENERATING SOURCE, NO SCHOOL MATERIALS FOR THE ORPHANS, HARRASMENT FROM EACH SIDE OF THE FAMILY, NO RIGHTS FOR PROPERTIES, NO COMPLAINS AFTER DISTRACTIONS.......
and from there God gave me a Heart to care for widows and orphans, from experience they need help MORE than any one else, they need care, they need concern, they need counseling, they need comfort and applause, they need medication and assurance.
2011 july i travelled back to the college and every time i thought of my mother I cried bitterly, but i thank God because my mother lived to be a lesson in my life. My two colleagues and I begun an organization called "Widows and Orphans Alive Foundation" (WOAF). WOAF is a christian organization located in Eldoret (Uasin Gishu County) that is serving the widows and Orphans in the Slums and rural Area. we offer food donations, Clothings, House renovations and building, health care, micro- business training and school supplies. we depend mostly donations from the church that we distribute to the widows.
WOAF is currently undorgoing the registration as a community based organization but currently we serve the widows as the ministry of Eldoret Worship Center (IPHC)
