16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence

The best thing about a world without violence would be the energy and resources that could be unleashed for positive endeavors rather than to perpetuate fear, intimidation, mistrust, and hate...Without wars, armed conflicts, gangs, domestic violence, etc. communities could focus on providing for one another, on creating together, on taking care of the sick and the elderly, and on nurturing our children with love, support, and opportunities...Oh, I dream of this world!
This is my answer in response to information about 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence from the Global Fund for Women:
Peek into the lives of pioneering peacemakers to help us celebrate 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence. The international campaign seizes power of hundreds local organizations worldwide to raise awareness about gender-based violence.
This year’s 16 Days theme is, “From Peace in the Home to Peace in the World: Let’s Challenge Militarism and End Violence Against Women!”
Given how much this theme parallels our Women Dismantling Militarism initiative, we thought what better way to participate in 16 Days than to share the inspiring stories of 16 courageous women’s groups working for peace around the world.
The campaign started Nov. 25th, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and ends 16 days later on December 10th, International Human Rights Day. Since 1991, over 3,700 organizations from 164 countries have supported 16 Days.
