"Next Stop, An Undeclared War Zone"

How far would you go to make a good story better? I'm going to Juarez and elsewhere in Chihuahua, Mexico, to conduct research for my historical novel about Mexican and Chinese immigrants and their mixed race offspring. At the beginning of my novel I follow a fictional family through the Chihuahua desert as they flee the Mexican Revolution in 1910. Ironically, my information-gathering will send me into Chihuahua in the midst of the modern drug war. Why go? You can read my answer at the Girls Trek Too blog:

More to come...

Thanks, Kim! Due to safety & security concerns, I won't be carrying any electronic devices, nor traveling slowly enough to make online updates during my trip. But I will definitely post about my trip when I return. I'll be darting into and out of the country in just three days, with a day in El Paso on either end. That's about as far as I wanted to play my luck.
