Help needed for Nguyen Thi Phuong

Nguyen Thi Phuong, a Vietnamise woman aged 26 looks 70. It seems the phenomena is due to a seafood allergy affecting the woman since she was 21.
She said at first she had pruritus all over her body which disappeared after assuming medicines taken at the chemist's instead of visiting the hospital since she and her husband, a carpenter, were too poor to access hospital treatments. Since then, the situation has got worse and worse, to the point that the woman's skin is rapidly collapsing making her look much older than she is.
Embarassment and discomfort were strong to the point that the woman has started wearing a mask to cover her face when she was in public, but at last she has found the courage to come out with her story and ask for help.

This I am writing is not meant to be an exclusive article, but a simple request for your help: anyone who believes to be able to give Nguyen help is welcome. If you are or know doctors, if you think you can help in any way, please, leave a reply.

If there was even one chance to make a difference, I think it's worth trying.

The first step I took was to spread this story throughout the network, hope there will be a strong and fast follow up.

The help of women for a woman.

Stay blessed

Hi -

what a sad thing to endure! I do not have any answers, but I hope one will come soon. Are there Doctors without Borders in the area that she could seek out for free help? Any free clinics? Is there a way to help her find a free clinic in her area? If I can figure out how to, I will try to find a place for her to go.

Peace and Hope-

Michelle

Hi

Well, that would be great Michelle!

As far as I know she was visited by doctors, but I don't know wheter she got access to free cures or not, or if she was given a place to go. I can try and find out. Unfortunately there were no replies except for yours here, and your suggestions were truly helpful, I did not think of DwB! Hope other replies will follow.

Thank you so much!

Stay blessed

Maria-

I'm sorry that you've not gotten the response you were hoping for. I, too, struggle with that same thing. I'm trying to problem-solve with others, like Maria Clarke from France, who is having the same trouble. How can we problem-solve through this? I feel like there are so many topics and so many people using the WP wire that a lot of entries get missed, including mine. So, let's all try to problem-solve this issue and see how things could be re-structured to ensure everyone's post gets read by someone. I know for me, if I'm browsing through and I see an entry with no comments, I make sure to read - or at the very least skim through it- and comment on the entry.

Peace-
Michelle

You're right

I agree with you Michelle.

I must admit it's been a few days since I haven't visited WP a lot due to business and every day duties, so my presence was a bit pale lately.
Me too, I have received Monica's e mail telling she was putting aside her project for the moment due to scarce participation. Her Journal of Strength was an ambitious and beautiful project, so I am pretty sad it will not see the light yet.

Anyway we should one more come together to get people more involved in discussion, on this I agree.

Yesterday I followed your advice and tried to find out whether Nguyen's situation had evolved in any way, but I could not find a clue. As far as I know, doctors were thinking of further analysis in order to find an anwer to her desease, however it seems she suffers from lipodystrophy, a rare desease which causes continuous growth of the skin. There is no known cure at present.

Still, I don't know whether she found a hospital or another place to stay...

Hugs

Maria

Nguyen

Yes, I figured it would be a disease like that. I don't think there is a cure, but she could have surgery to help. I have not had a chance to look for a DwB clinic, but I'll try today.

As far as streamlining journal entries to get more traffic....I will continue to think on that.

Peace and love,
M.
